Franz Liszt
Hi. I don't want Edler to go, so here is a new proposal. Here are is how I hope the dominoes fall. To FLA: Luongo + 2013 2nd To VAN: Matthias, Ellerby + 2013 1st Depth and size for Luongo. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- To TBL: Ballard, Raymond + FLA/VAN 2013 1st To VAN: Purcell + 2013 3rd Ballard is familiar with the SE division. Sorry for making it a Ballard, Raymond + 1st proposal. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- To TOR: Sauvé, 2014 2nd + 2013 4th To VAN: Franson (RFA) + 2013 2nd Burke loves his draft picks. We'll need another defender with size. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign Doan to a 4 year $24 million deal. Sign Colaiacovo to a 4 year $11 million deal. Colaiacovo averages about 65-70 games, and is still a great serviceable defender. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I now have a 26-man roster with $150,000~ in cap space. LINEUP WITH KESLER Sedin Sedin Doan Booth Kesler Purcell Higgins Matthias Burrows Malhotra Lapierre Hansen Volpatti, Ebbett, Weise Edler Garrison Hamhuis Bieksa Colaiacovo Franson Alberts, Ellerby, Tanev Schneider & Lack / Backup

canucklehead44
Tough to like this trade, it's really similar to the thoroughly abhorred "Raymond, Ballard and 1st for a star" deals that are so rampant on CDC (though the pieces do look nice it's really not much in terms of a return): Raymond (Top 6 scoring winger, 0.36 points/game player last season, career scoring clip of 0.48 points/game) > Matthias (3rd line center (0.3 points/game throughout his career)) Sure if the two could be swapped then for sure I'd make that move (hopefully he's Garrison's friend too) and in Vancouver Shawn would have the 3rd line role and fit the big, young 3rd line center role but don't forget, a healthy Raymond was able to put up 50 points per season. Really similar between Ellerby and Ballard. Keaton has size and unfulfilled upside, but he won't have the chance with such a stacked group in Florida, and it's not known whether or not he will pan out or just become a big depth D-man; Ballard, while pricey, has had successful years in Phoenix, and even in Vancouver has had albeit brief flashes of Top-4 potential here, it's just that he hasn't had the opportunity to live up to his lucrative deal. If the two were to be compared I'd rather keep Ballard and his puck-moving ability which fit the team better, than invest on Ellerby's potential and move Ballard when Keaton's strictly a depth D-man at the moment and Vancouver should try to win in the immediate future with an at least proven D-man. As for the 1st? Florida could contend with Lu in their net and with that roster which went deep in the playoffs last season, so that pick won't be worth much. (Also, wouldn't Florida want to move either one of Clemmensen or Theodore if they were to get Lu?)

Jägermeister
Toronto deal is an underpayment, Burke wouldn't do it. Can't see Tampa wanting anything to do with Ballard, they already have a lot of money tied up in their D. Florida trade is good, I would take it.
