After reading some hate on Malhotra today i decided to make a thread on appreciating what Malhotra does for this team. Here are some:

- Wins faceoffs (always top 5 in league)
- leader
- does great things with charities
- 7G, 9A as a 4TH LINER

and most importantly.... He's in my sig B)

He doesn't do anything wrong so i dont know what the hate is about

He's a bit overpaid. That's it.

One bad season and everyone wants him gone.

Happy Posting

I agree. He's a character guy. I know he can do better and that's why there's all these hate and expectations. He will break out this year I hope.

RIP to the BEST pound for pound fighter the NHL has ever seen. Will be missed.

I don't think the people posting the hate on Malhotra will care about this thread. The people who know better understand he does play a very specific role for us - and does it well. He could do better, but we have no idea how much of that is related to his eye or if he's just not as good as he used to be.

If this team lets go of Sang he will burn this team next year.

I really hope he can get back close to where he was before the injury. I know at the level I played I was scared coming back when I badly broke both legs.

These days broken legs and dislocated shoulders are no excuse at the NHL level. However, his inury is something very rare and could easily affect your play. I really hope he comes back full of confidence and stronger than ever.

Is it what most fourth liners get after a career threatening eye injury?

He may not be the same player he used to be, but he's still a great leader and valuable to this team.

Manny doesn't have the potential to be a solid 3rd line checking center anymore but as you said he is a great leader and great guy for that matter.... he deserves a spot at LW on the 4th line

He was in the running for the Seilke two years ago before the eye injury. He is only 32!
Last year was finding his way back into the lineup, this year he just may be our best option for second line center until Kesler get's back.
It all depends on if he can get used to dealing with the limited vision and presumably depth perception.
I am pulling for him that's for sure.

Haters should try and find a 220 lb centre who can go toe to toe with Joe Thornton and come out with puck possession more often than not?

I'm a fan of Malhotra. A lot of people don't understand how rare it is to be handed a letter your first year on a new team when you aren't a star, especially on a veteran team; this speaks volumes of his leadership. I think he'll adjust better to his vision issues next season and have a solid season.

i have no issue with Malhotra but i think the hate unfortunately comes from his salary making 2.5 is quite a bit still even with what he brings to this team

He does a great job for charities!

Unfortunately that's not what he's paid for!! When he retires next year he can raise money for them full time. No one doubts his heart and great character traits.

He had a decent 3rd line season a couple years ago. That's about all.

He's a bottom 6 centre, what are you expecting? Him to play on the first line? Every player has their role, and he is good at his. I expect with the offseason training, for him to have a better year, even if it's only on the third line.

Manny is a very important player who doesnt get full credit when you consider the situations he plays in. His first year with Torres and Hansen he would be matched up against top centermen in defensive draws over and over. I was so impressed with his ability to force offensive zone draws, which also helped the Sedins to be put in an offensive situation. I dont think we will see Hank or Danny with point totals like they had in their respective art ross years if Manny cant recover, although im confident he can.
