Jägermeister
From what I can make out, this is what happened: A shooter targetted his co-worker and shot him dead. He then fled the scene. He was chased down by police and killed in a gunfight. During that gunfight some bystandards were hit. The only 2 dead are the shooter and his target. None of the by-standards suffered life threatening injuries. The international media is making way too big of a deal out of this.
ahzdeen
The media grows stronger by collecting the fear of the people. Its kind of like Monsters Inc.

taxi
Yeah, you're right. Guy gets laid off and decides to kill someone because of it. No big deal....
RUPERTKBD
The media is making this out to be like it was a random targetting of people in the street, which is a much bigger deal than a murdering someone he knows. Murders happen in the thousands every day, people opening fire on crowds is a much more serious event. They are also displaying this event as though it fits the fact patterns of other recent mass murders/terrorist attacks. It doesn't.

taxi
I agree that the shootings in Colorado and Virginia were more serious than this one. Where we differ in opinion, is your assertion that these "everyday" murders are not a big deal.

taxi
It's all about ratings, veiwers, readers etc. Make a story seem a little scarier than it might actually be, and people will be glued to it. Ratings, veiwers, and readers go up, and so do profits. This most certainly happens.
Jägermeister
It's not a conspiracy, but there definitely is economic incentive to jump on the bandwagon and sensationalize certain topics no doubt.

Creating an atmosphere of fear, is most certainly a good way to sensationalize and gets people's attention. It sells papers.
Jägermeister
That's not "collecting fear". Not even sure how one 'collects' fear.

Sharpshooter
Right, I forgot you don't have the ability to comprehend things outside of their litteral element. Notice how nobody else seemed to have an issue with it?
Jägermeister
I have always lacked the ability to comprehend nonsense while you seem to have the consistent ability to produce it.
Sharpshooter
Right, so if I speak and everyone else understands it except for you, that makes it nonsense. Sorry to break it to you man... but I don't think you're quite as clever as you think you are
