nuck nit
Then this statement you made is crap, "Luo has had an exceptIonal career carrying the Canucks.Mikey the GM was an NHL forward so he has yet to learn how important D and a #1 goalie are to winning it all.Mike is whistling dixie putting in a goalie with no more than one playoff win and 34 games played in the regular season in net with the window closing." nuck nit
Here is a challenge for you nuck nit. You say relying on a goalie with as little experience as Cory is whistling pixie dustt . There at least 4 goalies who have won Cups with less experience than Cory since the Canucks have been in the NHL. Find me 1 goalie who was the starter who won their 1st cup with as much experience as Lu and his 727 games.
cIutch
Didn't read all of that, but if Luongo goes back to Florida and wins a cup, doesn't that make his overall career much more theirs than ours? I like the Panthers more than many other teams he could go to. But that's because they've been lovable losers. Let's say Florida's path to a cup with Luongo has to go through Schneider and the Canucks. The hate for Luongo would be amped way up then, y'think? But if he goes to TO, he's dead to me. riffraff
Or... With Schneider 2012-2013 - Lockout 2013-2014 - Miss the playoffs, 9th in the conference, get a bad pick too. No one knows what will happen if Schneider is our starter, it is a big gamble. Meanwhile, we have a guaranteed 30-win goalie in Luongo and we're trying to get rid of him. Makes no sense. What do people expect happen, Schneider to put up 40 or 45 wins? That's not happening.
smurf47
Yes,losing Ehrhoff was a major bonehead move by MG.Not hating, just being realistic. Can't win many games when you don't have a PP specialist on the blue line. It is the age old story, team (Canucks) get PP chance but fail, opposition then scores. Ballard was barely given a chance and Tanev can't score for the life of himself. Teams that can't dominate the PP lose a lot of regular season games. Maybe Mike will clue in this year and help his goalie and team out?
smurf47
Just because NHL.com said it, it must be true! This is a great example of why stats aren't everything.
Get real canuck fans
No,it's not crap.Teams win playoff games on D.They don't win them on the PP. that small fact escaped you and our illustrious GM. D and goaltenders are where it is at but it is a team game and all the intangibles must come together. You have to have a coach that is not an idiot,a GM that has a clue and a great team, most especially in net and on D. Cory has little NHL playoff experience and certainly is now going to be relied upon to bring a cup home with this present group in their last years together. nuck nit
Then how can you say Lu has had a career of carrying the Canucks and then say you need a team effort? If it is a team effort Lu would have been a contributer much like the Art Ross winning Sedins,Hart winning Sedin, Selke winning Kesler, Jack Adams winning AV and GM of the year Gillis, but to say he has carried this this team even the last 2 years when we won the Presidents Trophy when Cory in his 1st two years outplayed Lu for them 2 years collectively is crap. Riviera82
Riviera,in NHL hockey (and especially NHL playoff hockey) the goalie and the defence COMBINED have won many cups. Do you think Thomas wins the cup without the healthy Chara,Boychuk,McQuaid and Seidenberg? Vancouver only had Salo and the rookie Tanev that were not playing hurt (Bieksa,Edler,Ehrhoff,Alberts) ,out with injuries(Hamhuis) or suspended (Rome) in the Finals. Luo has had an exceptional career carrying the Canucks.Mikey the GM was an NHL forward so he has yet to learn how important D and a #1 goalie are to winning it all.Mike is whistling dixie putting in a goalie with no more than one playoff win and 34 games played in the regular season in net with the window closing. Mike better get a #1 d man if he trades Luo cuz Cory is going to need a lot more help than Luo had at times.
Riviera82
- Is 94 a distant memory? Is 2003 a distant memory? 5 years from now, will 2011 be a distant memory? - LOL. There wouldn't even be a game 5/6 without Luongo's performance in games 1, and 2. There wouldn't be a game 7 without Luongo's performance in game 6. - Agree. But only 6 goals in those 5 games says hi.
