Looking forward to the upcoming Giants season. Already have my tickets, half-season pack. Hoping to have Gallagher back but Musil & Tverdon will be back because they are 19 which means that they have to make the NHL club or go back to junior.

GO GIANTS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vancouver Giants name Wes Vanniewenheizen captain:

The Vancouver Giants have decided on a replacement for forward Brendan Gallagher, as defenceman Wes Vanniewenheizen has been chosen as the team's captain for the 2012-2013 WHL season.

The team announced the decision on Tuesday as they prepare for life without Gallagher, who is expected to play in the Montreal Canadiens organization this season.

Vanniewenheizen has spent the past two seasons with the Giants. In 137 career games, he's tallied three goals and 16 assists to go along with 309 penalty minutes.

Giants executive VP and General Manager Scott Bonner says Vanniewenheizen is a perfect fit to wear the "C".

"Wes is a player that carries all the intangibles that we want in a leader. He has made great improvements as a player, and we believe he'll be a great role model for our group."

The Giants are preparing to kick off their pre-season on Friday against the Kelowna Rockets. They open the regular season at home to the Victoria Royals on September 21st.
