Even though it wasn't the results the Giants fans wanted, it would've been a helluva game to go to. Orban and Houck each had 12 PIMS, and captain Wes had 15. On the Kamloops side, Joel Edmunson had 15 PIMS and projected 2013 first round pick JC Lipon had 31. At the 13:37 mark of the second period, Vannieuwenhuizen got 5 for boarding and a game, Lipon got 5 for fighting and 2 for the instigator, and Orban got the fighting major. And at the 18:37 mark of the third, Lipon got 2 for kneeing, 2 for roughing, and a 10. Houck got 2 for roughing and a 10, Edmundson got 10 and Orban and Willick each got fighting majors. There were two other fights in the game, Geertsen vs Edmundson and Atwal vs Macklin. Somehow, no Kamloops player ended up getting more than 2 points and no Giant was worse than -3 Pacific Coliseum- Vancouver BC Attendance: 6

After a fun, fight-filled game against Kamloops, the boys toned it down tonight and got the two points. There were a couple roughing scrums, Blake Orban found himself in the middle of most of those. Cain Franson and Brendan Rouse each had 1G 1A for 2 points, as Franson hopes to top the 30-goal mark this season. VAN 21 Brendan Rouse The Giants finally had their luck turned around against the red-hot Kamloops Blazers. Kale Kessy's luck against however, continues to go against his former team. I have no official stat but I'd bet that he's gotten at least a point in every contest against the Giants since he was traded. Arvin Atwal got into it with Chase Suoto and got 15 PIMS. The Giants had a couple of multi-point nights, Brendan Rouse (2G), Cain Franson (1G 1A), and Carter Popoff (2A). As he nears 30 goals, one wonders if Franson gets another call to prospects camp and maybe a contract this time around. I remember reading an article by Drance before the season started, hoping that Franson could do what Jordan Martinook did last season by hovering up and down for a few years then going out and getting a 40-goal season and was drafted in the second round. Franson won't get 40 goals, but he also didn't have Brendan Gallagher on his wing. 30 should be a good goal for the last 8 games of the season. Either way, I wish all the best to Cain, would be nice to get both Franson brothers . Pacific Colisseum- Vancouver, BC Attendance: 4 172 Giants Record: 64 GP 17-45-2-0 36 PTS, 22nd by 8 PTS. Dammit WHL boxscores In other news, Minnesota wonderboy high schooler Alec Baer will make his Giants debut tonight, on Gordie Howe night. There are a number of former NHL stars in the vicinity, including Marcel Dionne and Brett Hull. The Giants are expecting close to 10 000 people tonight! VAN 12 Cain Franson Gordie Howe night at the Pacific Coliseum was a good one, with the Giants getting their third straight win! After Michael Bublé sang happy birthday to the man of the night, things went going right away. Arvin Atwal had another fight, his second in as many games. A couple Giants had multi-point games, Carter Popoff (2G 1A), Arvin Atwal (2A), Taylor Vickerman (1G 1A), and Dalton Sward (1G 1A). Russell Maxwell of Lethbridge also had 2G 1A. A couple Giants have gone on big point streaks during this streak, with Popoff getting 6 points (4G 2A) in 3 games, Travis McEvoy (3, 2G 1A), Cain Franson (5, 2G 3A), Brandon Rouse (4, 3G 1A). Rookie Alec Baer played in his first WHL game, getting no points and going -2. Only thing that's not going right now is that I would like to be Houck get more points, especially if he wants to get drafted this summer. In honor of Gordie Howe night, Marcel Dionne, Bobby and Dennis Hull, Orland Kurtenbach, Jim Robson and Jonny Bower were also in attendance. Candawg71
As much as this rebuilding season has been a tough one. The Future is bright. Giants fans have seen 15 year old forwards Alec Baer and Jakob Stukel. Both players have shown offensive upside. Payton Lee has played well considering he is the only 16 year old starting goalie in the WHL. There are rumblings that Marek Tverdon could return next year and play as an overager. Again, I have no highlights and I didn't see the game, but judging by the scoring of a line of Baer-Franson-Kieser was flying out there tonight. Tyler Morrison also had two points, and Franson had 3. They controlled the game almost fully, apart from the one powerplay goal 34 seconds in, doubling the Royals shot total. That would be the only powerplay in the game for both sides, just fights (Cooke) and offsetting minors (Vannieuwenhuizen). Jackson Houck scored a pair of goals including the game winner and the empty net goal. On Houck's initial shot, the goalie Vollrath made a great diving stick save but then the puck trickled across the line. Brett Kulak also had two assists. Payton Lee made 19 saves and allowed only the one goal. Also, with a Cougars win tonight the Giants are mathematically stuck in last place.
