My favourite hit never was not a hit at all. Rome vs Horton. Rome is stationary for a split second and braces himself whilst Horton skates into him. Rome is just holding his ground as he has every right to. He was called for interference whilst stationery ( even though the interference rule states that a player cannot be called if holding their place on the ice) Many NHL players expressed disbelief at the time. He throw a hit whilst stationery. What an achievement.

Best hit of all time--- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5u0khFnHUg

Best part about that was the DJ playing "I Believe I Can Fly" afterwards.

Probably would be a boarding major today?

If I had a penny for every pixel in that video, I would have 15 cents.

Not the best Canuck hits, but still memorable:

Jan Bulis on Jack Johnson

Victor Oreskovich on Andrew Ference

This, it's not even close.

But I assume you meant recently which is why you posted 3 recent hits.

I remember Linden breaking the glass on his checks a couple of times. I can't find the other one - only the Horton one seems to have made its way to Youtube. The first time I saw him do it was in 92 or 93 I think... anyone remember?

Not by a Canuck either, but I get a thrill out of crushing pests running rampant:

Brad had better watch out, Salo's gone from our blue line and Garrison's much tougher, so if he tried that kind of play or laid a cheap hip check like he did to Sami, he won't get away unscathed (or he'll end up on his back and see illusions of #76 in red and blue all over again as a result of whoever crushes him).

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Jesus LOVES YOU!
2012, meet Matthew 24:36-47!

14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Not the best, but a few pretty recent and heavy hits.

Volpatti

I love this one because Volpatti defies the laws of physics and somehow reverses the momentum of this hit.

Does anyone else notice when Volpatti hits someone he acts like he doesn't even realise it. This "look" here is not the first time I've seen it from Volpatti. I wonder how he would have developed if he hadn't been injured.

linden on norton for sure.

that bure one has to be about as dirty as it gets.

Pretty well exactly what I was going to write. Linden on Norton is my favourite hit by any NHLer of all time. That Bure hit... oh my. Is there a better definition of a flying elbow? Bure's headshot makes Torres' hit on Hossa look like a congratulatory hug.

Peca on selanne
Mitchell on towes
Rutuu on Ritchie. Made better by the beating he put on Ritchie the next meeting after Ritchie challenges. But then how can you lose a fight to a guy with frosted tips?

Bure on Churla.

(Sorry, don't know how to find and post the video.)

Haha I love that hit, too bad my friend's dad is Shane Churla. Let's just say the word "Bure" is not to be uttered in that household.

Love all the hits.  A little surprised Hamhuis has not made the cut so far.  I know everyone would like to forget about the hit on Lucic, but it was an unbelievable hit.  The there was the hit on Douglas Murray... that's our Hammer!

Torres on Seabrook
Mitchell on Toews
Edler on Doughty
Linden through the glass

and although it really isn't a hit:

Ruutu makes Phaneuf trip on his own stick XD

Churla was killing us in that series.
Bure took him out.

Bure was phenomenal in more ways than one.
From his first game as a Canuck, we knew we finally had the best player in the game.
Too bad it didn't work out; he could have been the best right winger ever.

He was one viscious guy though.
I forget who took him down with a cheap shot but when he was on the ice he swept his skate around and just about severed the guy's Achilles tendon.

Mason Raymond makes Marchand pay for Chara's nasty push into the boards. :emot-parrot: Anyone else might have lost interest in the puck (when you see the impact) but Raymond still tries to shuffle the puck to a team mate...........he IS tough!
