Comedy. like art, is in the eye/ear of the beholder .. I found it petty .. but then, I considered the source, and Mitt is beyond petty .. Mitt's "comedy" writers should stick to helping him craft his various positions on every topic imaginable .. we all know he needs several positions to suit every feasible occasion .. :P

The speech was funny I'll give him that, but it carries more undertones in trying to make Obama waiver or pumping up the crowd against him. I haven't seen Obama's speech but if he were to go for the groin I'm sure he would have mentioned the 47%, the self-deportation, affiliation with Bain Capital, his money offshore/overseas, his quote of black people requiring social programs, his inability to be specific on how he would promote growth within the economy, his running mate... the list goes on. Romney really shouldn't throw rocks in a glass house. I've got Jon Stewart with Obama as guest tonight, I'm going to go watch that.

OCTOBER 17, 2012

A Message From Bruce

Dear Friends:

The election is coming up on all of us and we all have strong feelings about it. I’ve been getting asked a lot about where I stand, so for those who are interested, here goes.

This presidential election is different than the last one because President Obama has a four year record to run on. Last time around, he carried with him a tremendous amount of hope and expectations. Unfortunately, due to the economic chaos the previous administration left him with, and the extraordinary intensity of the opposition, it turned into a really rough ride. But through grit, determination, and focus, the President has been able to do a great many things that many of us deeply support.

Domestically, that record includes working to increase and expand employment for all, protecting our all important social safety net, passing guaranteed health care for most of our citizens, with important new protections for all of the insured, rescuing the auto industry and so many of the American jobs that go with it, protecting and enhancing the rights of women, and bringing us closer to full acceptance of our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters.

In foreign affairs, that record includes following through on the removal of troops from the misguided and deceptive war in Iraq, and vigorously pursuing our real foreign enemies, especially the killing of Osama Bin Laden.

Right now the opposition’s resort to voter suppression in so many states is not receiving as much attention as it deserves. I believe that all of us, of whatever views, should be opposing these anti-voter, anti-citizen efforts.

Right now, for the President to be effective in his next term he needs our increased support and he needs support in the Congress, where some sterling candidates, such as current Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio, challenger Elizabeth Warren in Massachusetts, and so many others, are fighting to make their constructive voices heard.

Right now, there is an ever increasing division of wealth in this country, with the benefits going more and more to the 1 percent. For me, President Obama is our best choice to begin to reverse this harmful development.

Right now, there is a fight going on to help make this a fairer and more equitable nation. For me, President Obama is our best choice to get us and keep us moving in the right direction.

Right now, we need a President who has a vision that includes all of our citizens, not just some, whether they are our devastated poor, our pressured middle class, and yes, the wealthy too; whether they are male or female, black, white, brown, or yellow, straight or gay, civilian or military.

Right now, there is a choice going on in America, and I’m happy that we live in a country where we all participate in that process. For me, President Obama is our best choice because he has a vision of the United States as a place where we are all in this together. We’re still living through very hard times but justice, equality and real freedom are not always a tide rushing in. They are more often a slow march, inch by inch, day after long day. I believe President Obama feels these days in his bones and has the strength to live them with us and to lead us to a country “…where no one crowds you and no one goes it alone.”

That’s why I plan to be in Ohio and Iowa supporting the re-election of President Obama to lead our country for the next four years.

well Columbo. I agree with you about the number of delegates/senators. obviosly that states/provices with more population will have more seats. BUT it shouldn´t be considered for elect the president...

of course Brithish Columbia must have more seats than Nunavut, but these seats must be considered for state/provice elections only. not to elect the leader of your country...

when the military government restored our democracy they tried do like the USA system and it didn´t work for us because many states found themselves "less important" than others. like why São Paulo (state) is more important than Rio Grande do Sul (state)? it almost created a war here. althout the number of senators remain the same for every state here the number of federal and state counselers (didn´t find the equivalent name in english) is diferent from each state here but it doesn´t count for elect the president or any other people. we elect directly everyone, from the mayor to the president,

it´s simple rule. more votes you win. and in 5 hours (sometimes less than it) we know the result...

how a state will less population has more delegates? and these delegates elect the president. soo it means that I´m not voting for the president, I´m voting for the party, I´m not voting for Obama or Romney, I´m voting for Democrats or Republicans...

in other terms. in USA you don´t vote for the president because if your state has less delegates your vote "doesn´t count". you vote for the party and for some coincidence they nominated a president to be elected (or not). what is this? a democracy or some type of Soviet new democracy system? vote on a party?

25% of a country can elect the president. hmmmm, sounds wierd. the definition of "United States" is wierd if some states with more delegates can elect even if the president is elected with less votes than the other one...

Bill Clinton, the guy that:

- raped Juanita Brodderick and then advised her to "put some ice" on her injured lips

- molested Kathleen Wylie in a WhIte House ante-room, keeping Prime Minister Izhak Rabin waiting outside

- seduced the teenage Monica Lewinsky and demeaned her sexually with a cigar

- cheated on wife Hillary Rodham Clinton with Gennifer Flowers for 22 years

- attempted unsuccessfully to molest Paula Jones and later settled her lawsuit, paying a large fine, admitting guilt

- who was disbarred for 9 years from Arkansas and Federal Court

- who was held in contempt by District Court Judge Susan Weber for giving intentionally false testimony

- who committed perjury

- who was the 2nd American President impeached by the House of Representatives

- who said "It depends on what you mean by the word "is"".

- who said "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Monica Lewinsky". Which was a lie.

Oh yes, he's such an "awesome" politician.

Bill Clinton "IS" an amazing politician .. he is also a dooshbag .. your point? .. even with all his foibles, he is still more popular than any other American politician still breathing .. after he dies, he will be greater, in retrospect, than Ronnie "Are We There Yet?" Raygun ..
