I watched ABC, you have examples?

The were blabbering about Biden's smile, Ryan's water drinking, Saturday Night Live, saying the debate was 50-50 split...after 5 minutes they hadn't said anything worth listening to....

ryan is a rookie, not ready for prime time. but he is better than palin. got to give gop credit.

For Ryan's first debate on such a grand scale and being so green I thought he held his own decently. Biden was just too aggressive to lose tonight though. *refer to the Bill Maher 9 1 1 quote*

Whenever Biden/Martha called out Ryan for some actual facts, he sounded like a teacher who lost his edition of the textbook with the answers.

How have they gotten this far without saying anything concrete?!?

So what does it take to "win" a debate?

I would like to think Biden won because he had better points on a wider range of policies than Ryan. Unfortunately sometimes it seems like the media is just looking for who shouts louder and seems more arrogant...

I'm sorry mate but Biden did win, he was more coherent, knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions thrown at him. Ryan on the other hand couldn't handle the specifics when prompted, was unable to describe what would qualify for intervention, and got snagged about the Bush cuts in his 'brilliant' budget reform. Biden wasn't as reserved but nor should he have been, he had to be on the offensive if only to demonstrate when Ryan was blatantly lying. I support Biden's decision to laugh while Ryan spoke, it's an effective tool to show those who aren't informed of how Ryan is lying. Hell, Ryan even failed on basic mathematics.

Perhaps my post was worded poorly. When I say "I would like to think Biden won because of his answers" I mean I think he won because his answers were better.

My post was meant to portray that the media doesn't seem to focus on the answers and facts but rather on who shouted louder and had better one-liners.

I don't blame Ryan, much. He had to run on Romney's words and ideas...which are deficient, if not bankrupt in many ways. Ryan has a future, but he's not ready for prime time, imo. He held his own as much as possible, but Biden is too experienced and connect much better.

If that's the internet poll, then pay no attention, ever.

There's only a handful of states and a handful of voters that will decide this elections, and Obama's winning or leading most of them.

All I saw were two car salesmen. One younger and one older looking.

The guy with the white rug seemed more polish but also more sinister. The younger dude came off looking crooked, particularly when staring into camera, and more evasive, doubtless due to lack of experience of many decades of public lying.

Zero content from both. Still wondering how they can spend bulk of the time talking about stuff the federal government is constitutionally not empowered to perform. Not seeing how this comedy will change the mind of any yo-yo who has come of age and hasn't picked a team.

Perhaps Obama can sneak in a teleprompter for the next round.

I voted Obama of course in this poll but exactly like Canadian elections they are completely useless and only meaningful to those with deep pockets that either stand to win or lose based on the outcome. For the average everyday Canadian or American absolutely nothing will change in your day to day live no matter who wins. Similar to the hockey strike they don't really give a crap about you and know they have you in their pockets.

They have already determined in a board room how much money they can strip from you down to the nearest penny without you revolting and how far they can crush you into the ground, now it's just a matter of seeing who is going to profit from it. Either your housing goes up and food goes down or some combination of needs. The only constant is that they will bleed the public dry and accomplish absolutely nothing to improve the lives of the citezens.

"What players need is the right kind of strength and power. That includes learning to understand that leverage and positioning can be just as important as raw strength when it comes to winning battles in the game. It's more about timing and athleticism --and avoiding injury--than it is about how much you can bench press. I don't know how many times I've seen a guy with the physique of a defensive end line up a guy half his size, only to bounce off when he connects. Sure, there is room in the game for big guys who can throw their weight around. But for the most part, players are smart enough to see them coming--and strong enough to protect the puck when they arrive. There are trainers out there who know how to devlop hockey-specific strength--though a trainer can help only if a player follows the program. All too often, I've seen players sign up with the best trainer, but not show up for their workouts and never to reap the benefits."

There's a documentary style movie that airs once in while on HBO, called "America's Right Feeling Wronged". It chronicles the events around the Obama-McCain election.

The sort of thing in this video is very common in the Doc, except they throw the word "socialist" around a lot. At one point, the interviewer asks some of the respondents what a "Socialist" is...

...none of them had a clue. A frightening number referred to it as something close to Fascism.

Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

Here is the formula.

1) Go fund raise . Tell the donors you cant get mid west white boyz becuz they are bible thumping gun totin bigots who cling to their guns and religion

Have the tape secretly recorded behind your back.

2) Go to donors and tell em 47% of the people are lazy slobs who take from others and complain all day long from their parents basement about issues 15 grades above their pay grade that they have no say in. (no offense to the majority of the regulars here)

Romney wasn't talking about you guys. He was talking about AMERICANS. You know, people who actually have a say in it.

Anyways, have Mother Jones secretly record it behind your back.

Drybone .. you are in serious need of some kind of "lubrication" .. pontification can lead to chafing .. Mother Jones did NOT tape that .. a waiter recorded it and Jimmy Carter's grand-son got access and turned it over to David Corn .. they say the truth shall set you free .. whoever the hell "they" is ..

??... You're drooling.

Once again incoherent and confusing. Yes this is a Canadian forum talking about an American election, if you don't like it I suggest you post elsewhere. If you don't think that the election with our #1 trading partner is important to Canadians then your head is farther up your ass than I thought.

And if it was 60-70%, like it is in most 1st world countries, this would be worse for the country how? Don't give me that 'job creator' crap either. Sweden has jobs, progressive taxes and social programs.

Comparing the USA to Sweden is like comparing apples to bowling ball. The population and economies are vastly different between the two. The top billionaires in Sweden have way less than the richest people in the USA. Warren Buffett has more money than the top 10 richest Swedes combined.

A 2008 study of 24 leading economies by the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) concludes that, "Taxation is most progressively distributed in the United States, probably reflecting the greater role played there by refundable tax credits, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit. . . . Taxes tend to be least progressive in the Nordic countries (notably, Sweden), France and Switzerland."
The OECD study—titled "Growing Unequal?"—also found that the ratio of taxes paid to income received by the top 10% was by far the highest in the U.S., at 1.35, compared to 1.1 for France, 1.07 for Germany, 1.01 for Japan and 1.0 for Sweden (i.e., the top decile's share of Swedish taxes is the same as their share of income).

some of us live in the US. I'll move back to Canada if Romney wins.

and the gun clinging comment, obama followed that he needed to reach out to them. unlike the romney 47% comment, romeny went on to say he cant get their vote so he doesnt worry about them. huge difference for any presidential candidate.
