This is absolute garbage, don't mess with an icon. Why now, after more than 30 years? Did some politically correct left-wing hippie just see the General Lee for the first time? Maybe they should have actually watched the show and seen how wholesome and unhateful it was.

Love the car. Didn't care for colour scheme or the flag or the stupid horn.

I'd rather watch Bullitt. Even though the Charger should have outran that Mustang easily.

The car or the actual General?

Cause I couldn't give a rat's ass about the actual General, Robert E. Lee. He was a racist who argued to deny black people the right to vote. He was a patronizing bigoted piece of $h!t.

I'm not a fan of the way certain people use the confederate flag, but come on. It's just a TV show, the General Lee is iconic. Such a sweet car.

That flag stands for racism. The people who fought under that flag, were fighting to keep slaves. Just because some ignorant southerner tried to re brand it in the 60's/70's does not mean it is not associated with racism anymore.

It is like a present day German putting a Nazi flag on their car.

Don't say it is THAT different under that flag(and prior) The Confederate States killed hundreds if not thousands of African Americans for no reason.

That flag was created to represent their RACIST views.

This has NOTHING to do with liberal vs conservative. In fact the US was under Republican government when they outlawed that flag, and fought the army that represented it. It is doing what is right. Just because something is old, does not make it right.

The number #1 song in Canada in 1906 was "White Canada Forever", that does not mean it should ever be played again. It was ok for people of Jewish faith to be banned in certain neighbor hoods in Canada(and it was perfectly legal) in the early 1900's, that does not make it right. Understand?

Nope... for most people who watch the show it was just a cool looking car. No need to mess with it.

it's a symbol that has any kind of meaning depending on how it's used. In the show it was never for harm so let it be. The swasitka is on the buddha but most see it as evil because Hitler reversed it for his politcal party

This is gayer than Graham James, I mean seriously...

Anyways both the Confederate and Union/U.S. flags stood for racism when it comes down to it.

The Union wasn't so much against slavery as it was against undermining the economic base of its rival faction, and by casting its war as a war against slavery it prevented the European powers from assisting the Confederacy for fear of appearing pro slavery. The treatment and status of Black Americans for a good 130 years after the war tells the real story.

I guess the next step is banning any original Disney cartoon since Walt Disney was an Anti-Semite.

Never mind that one of the north's main reasons for opposing slavery was that it was resulting in the mass importation of non white people.

Interesting history fact - most people in the old days were racist! Even the so called "good" guys!

As for the topic, if it doesn't have confederate flags on it it's not the general lee....

Basically they are saying that they are no longer making them but they are making orange dodge charger.

So if you collect Dukes of Hazzard toys good news they just went up in value since they aren't making the general lee anymore.

Actually slavery only became an issue later in the war, the primary reason was resistance to a centralized government, the Confederate states wanted a much more loose confederation with the state not a central government holding most of the power.

The car or the actual General?

Cause I couldn't give a rat's ass about the actual General, Robert E. Lee. He was a racist who argued to deny black people the right to vote. He was a patronizing bigoted piece of $h!t.

"So far from engaging in a war to perpetuate slavery, I am rejoiced that Slavery is abolished. I believe it will be greatly for the interest of the South. So fully am I satisfied of this that I would have cheerfully lost all that I have lost by the war, and have suffered all that I have suffered to have this object attained."

I took American history and was taught that he was one of the few southerners to be against slavery. Although he felt a sense of loyalty to his home state Virginia and that is why he answered the call of the Confederacy.

People like to boil down history to be simple but there is a lot of gray area. Lincoln was a very unpopular President while he was alive and many northerners were upset when he granted universal freedom to African Americans. I would like to see you provide some evidence to back up your claim that General Lee ever argued to deny black people the right to vote.

That`s right........facts often overlooked for the hot button issue of the abolishment of slavery instead.
