(proposal) if cap goes down to $58 mill with no rollbacks

Recommended Posts

if this is true what must we part with to get under the cap? we will let lou go for next to nothing. manny, ballard and maybe a couple more will be gone imo. these are trades i think gillis needs to make before the new agreement kicks in and ruins our chances at getting a decent return for lou.

to van: howden, ellerby, clemmensen, 2013 2nd

to fla: luongo

we get a B+ prospect, a good d-man who needs a change of scenery, a backup for schneids and a 2nd

to nyi: ballard

to van: 2013 3rd

just a salary dump

to win: alberts, malholtra

to van: 2013 4th, 5th

another salary dump

roster with salary cap at $58 mill

IF the salary cap does go down to 58mill with no salary rollback what would you do to get under the cap?

its really hard to find ways of moving players and which ones we keep

Nice lineup but hwbout,

trade luongo for ellerby, howden, a first

trade ballard, raymond, alberts, a first for couturier, haha i know, real original but it makes sense, philly is desperate for d man and ballard would fit in their top 4 and alberts would be a depth d man, raymond would take couturiers spot in the lineup and the first would turn into a prospect

If the cap truly goes down to $58M, then teams like Florida and Philly (as suggested in this thread) wouldn't be able to take on players with $4-5M+ cap hits as then they'd be over the cap themselves.

In other words, no way it happens without salary rollbacks so no way to predict what we might have to move if anything.

The league isn't even asking for rollbacks... it's current proposal has the cash going into escrow. That basically means the cap stays the same but at the end of the year when they figure out actual revenues, the owners would take all that cash that was held back to make the % split work out.
