It's sometimes hard to look at Raymond's upside because from one moment to the next, it can change:

Jokes aside, Raymond isn't going anywhere this season. He has his uses, has speed, is good on the defensive side of things. he is actually one of the better backcheckers on the team.

In the 1st pic he's forechecking and flushing out the blues player from behind the net

In the second, it took 2 men to bring him down

and that 3rd pic looks like a good goal. Yay!

He should be kept on the 3rd line unless he starts scoring consistently again. I'm sick of him being given top six minutes he hasn't earned.

Raymond is useless, just accept it. If he's part of the Luongo package, I would be pleased.

He doesn't fit in our line-up, hes not a top 6 winger and the third line spots are taken, Hopefully he goes the other way with Lu so the return is better.

Raymond's best asset is his puck possession and ability to transition the puck from defense to offense. Alot of times he looks clumsy and a little weak, but he's very effective at keeping the puck in the offensive end. This is better than having to play in the defensive end. With a full off season of training, he ll be a 40 pt wingers on the thirdline/second line.

Rolston's old as sh*t and Malholtra is just coming off an eye injury. Keep in mind Malholtra is a role player, faceoffs and PK is what he does and he did that well last season. Raymond is indefensible, although I would prefer a young Raymond to an old Rolston - and that's saying something... I hate Raymond.

keeping possession of the puck in the offensive end?! he never has it. he falls on the boards/corners - if ever in a corner; killing plays. or hes skidding to a halt on the outside half boards and ripping one into the crest of the goalie.

If the cap goes down when they get a new CBA, Mason Raymond will be cut loose.
He is not a bonfide 1st or 2nd liner.
Is he good enough to bounce Higgins or Hansen from the 3rd line? I don't think so.
Would he be an effective 4th liner? No
He has speed and skill but I just don't see him as the best alternative. His cap hit is over $2M so that is not a player that you can keep on the bench waiting for someone to get injured plus he is too expensive to park in Chicago.
He is a likeable player but will do well on another team. The only way that he stays in Vancouver is if Hansen or Higgins are traded.

Maybe he should try going to Gary Roberts training school in the off season. Maybe he can improve his leg strength and get stonger on the puck???

I don't even think Raymond works out in the offseason. Roberts is Ontario based and I believe Raymond spends his time somewhere in Alberta.

Not his best move, but he tried to ride Kopitar off of the puck. More a bad defensive decision rather than a poor backcheck.

No not the best move at all. He did get back in time I'll give you that, but the outcome of the play lies on his shoulders.

Ive said it for several seasons now, He's got to move on. Likeable guy and all, nothing against him whatsoever, he just doesnt have a spot on this team anymore.. he certainly doesnt deserve any more time on the second line and I dont wish to see him on the third or fourth either.

just hope we can package him with Lu and move forward.
