Powerful quake in Costa Rica triggers tsunami warning

A magnitude-7.6 earthquake has shaken Costa Rica, the U.S. Geological Survey said today.

The quake struck 10 kilometres northeast of the town of Hojancha at 8:42 a.m. local time, the USGS said.

In the coastal town of Nosara in northwest Costa Rica, trees shook violently and light posts swayed.

Teachers chased primary school students outside.

Yikes. Hope no one was injured and everyone is safe.

Hopefully they are well prepared for this sort of thing.

So far, news sounds good. Tsunami warning called off, and only one death reported - and that was due to a heart attack.
