The title really explains itself. Who do you think is the best Canucks prospect I reckon it is Schroeder. What about you?

In terms of potential, probably Jensen.

What is the criteria for a "prospect"

I'd probably consider Kassian as a prospect, so he would probably be our top prospect in my mind.

Jensen hands down. He is the only "proven" power forward prospect. I wouldn't say that Kassian should end up as a top6 while I see Jensen being a top 6 forward.

And what exactly has Jensen proven?

Kassian has played in the NHL. Until Jensen does that, Kassian is more proven.

It's a tie between Lack/Jensen. Lack has by far a higher value and bare with me, because it's hard to compare 2 different positions but, Jensen has potential to become a better player & more successful. Jensen is great because he can play either wing, anywhere in the line-up (though his SEL stats might not reflect that quite yet) and thrives at the pro level because that's what his game is made for. I know everyone says anybody could play with the sedins and do well and that's true, but Jensen playing with them would be fantastic.

Lack is great down low in the butterfly because of his height but he really uses it to his advantage. He reminds me of a Schneider-lite in a way because he's very positionally sound (it's hard not to be at his size!) and doesn't over commit.

Right now: Schroeder. in nhl 12, everytime he shoots, he just snipes it past the goalie.
I have a feeling Jensen is gonna amazing in a few years though

Canucks Army just put up a list of their top 20, so the thread for that is probably a good place to discuss it. In fact, a number of us have already been discussing it there.

They had their top 5 as:
1. Kassian
2. Lack
3. Jensen
4. Gaunce
5. Schroeder

Kassian is our top prospect due to NHL experience like others have stated.
Jensen is probably the prospect closest to being NHL ready.
Shroeder/Connauton/Guance after that

Chris Tanev

Since he hasn't yet made the Canucks roster full time, he's still considered a prospect.. Although he is a lock for next year, unless we get someone better in a trade

I say that it's Jensen. I don't call Kassian a prospect, as in he's a fourth liner in my eyes right now.

Lack and Schroeder are abouts tied, but Lack edges him out.

Actually i'm not even concerned with any of the forwards at this point, plus Lack or any other goaltender with decent skill will do ok with Melanson coaching. That's the main reason why CS is playing anywhere near his potential. What i'am concerned with is how K-conn and Sauve are progressing, forwards are a dime a dozen but defense is a much harder position to play and bigger mobile puck moving physical defensive players who can make very quick responsible reads are hard to come by and i hope those 2 are developing well. Both of them are decent sized with grit factor that we desperately need now and in the future. Let's hope they make the jump sooner than later, i wish we hired a professional Defense coach like we did melanson for our goalies.

Lack then Jensen Kassian Gaunce 3way tie then Schroder followed closely by Cannata and Connauton . I hope Schroder really surprises us though I thought he was better than coho in preseason last year. but Its Lack hands down best prospect in my opinion hes gonna be a top 10 goalie in the nhl if not top 5.

I hope Lack turns out ready to play for his Swedish Country-men

big bad Eddie Luongo..

I wish Roberto would have had time to take Eddie under his wing and give him goalie coaching

that would justify some of that huge salary.

1. Kassian
2. Jensen
3. Lack
4. Schroeder
5. Gaunce

These would have to be my top five, Kassian has to pay dividends. (Because of the Hodgson trade) He also apparently bulked up during the summer, so I can't wait to see him improve this season. Jensen played great while making the transition to the AHL, which makes me think he is a very quick learner and has a knack for this kind of thing. I think he will be with us in a season or two, Lack as well.

Schroeder will get his chance this season while Kes is on the IRL, so maybe he'll prove me wrong and move up on the list... Gaunce also looks very promising, but he is the youngest and therefore the furthest behind in his development. All in all I'm happy with our prospects and think they will look all the more sweet with Bjustad added on to the list. :P

"It's an opportunity, we don't look at it as a last chance... We look at it as an opportunity to do something great. We are going to take it period by period, shift by shift. You just have to be better than the guy across from you... Every guy in this locker room I can say believes we can do this." - Ryan Kesler
