Steal for Tampa?

Obviously his point totals are going to decrease.. He plays behind Steven Fricken Stamkos.

You guys probably don't watch many Lightning games

Why would we want Lecavalier? He's on a way worse contract than Luongo is. Vinny's cap hit stays at $7M+ for another 8 or so years while Luongo's cap hit gradually goes down every year.

Luongo's cap hit does not go down every year..

Is that a new addition to the CBA or something?

Why wouldn't we wan't Lecavalier?

Flip Lou for Price and then Price for Seabrook ::D

Realistically, Lou will only accept to play in very few markets and Montreal would be one I bet.

Idk I guess but Price I think is better than Luongo, they are close skillwise but Price is young and I personally think he is probably a bit better than Luongo right now.

I would take him over Luongo or Schneider myself if I could have one of the 3.

Even if Price is better (which is debatable), I'd much rather have that extra cap space. What if we could use it to sign a player like Arnott?

Lu + Arnott > Price without a doubt

My post on the previous page says that we could trade Luongo for something great (2nd liner, top 4 D, prospects/picks) and Price for something incredible (1st liner, top 15 pick, A-B grade prospect) would we ever fleece Montreal like that. Luongo and Booth for Price and Gionta makes more sense but again it would never happen.

OP makes zero sense. Trading a terrific tender to a team who is already trying to move one of their top 2, especially for the biggest underpayment which was proposed.

I accept your offer.

Now I take Luongo and trade him to Florida for Matthias, Howden, Petrovic, and 1st Round Pick.

Now I also take Schneider and trade him to one of Columbus, Toronto, or Tampa Bay.

Van: Cory Schneider

CBJ: Bobrovsky, Anisimov, Savard, 2013 1st Round Pick

Van: Cory Schneider

Tor: Kulemin, Biggs, Franson, 2013 1st Round Pick

Van: Cory Schneider, Mason Raymond

TB: Garon, Purcell, Lee, 2013 1st Round Pick, 2014 3rd Round Pick

Say I make the deal with Toronto, the line up is...

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Booth-Kesler-Kulemin
Higgins-Matthias-Hansen
Lapierre-Malhotra-Wiese

Bieksa-Hamhuis
Edler-Garrison
Ballard-Tanev/Franson

And you do??

If he was the player he once was he would be on the same line as Stammer, he isn't the 90-100 point player he used to be, he's a 45-55 point player now, merely average.

And for 7.5, that would be terrible, he is basicly just as good as Kris Versteeg now. He's nowhere near where he used to be.

No I would still say.

Price > Lu and Arnott.

Lets say that Price and Luongo are the same right now. (Just for arguement sake) Price in 24 I believe? maybe 25? So he is a young goalie who will get better, even if its not alot better he will still get better, he is younger, he will last longer.

He's probably the most valueable goalie in the league in my honest opinion.

It would take more than a star aging goalie, and a (now) bottom 6 forward who is well past his BBD (best before date) to get Price.

Yes it is 1.3 or whatever difference, big deal thats worth it for Price.

Fair enough, thats the spirit.

The only question mark is: Let see if Vancouver will be able to trade Luongo for more or less than that. It will allow us to put a value on a franchise goalie.

Hint: If Luongo start the season with Vancouver, it would mean the offer they got for him was not good enough to accept them and probably inferior to what you suggest.

I personnaly think that you overvalue goalie. Let try to find a gingle fan of these team accepting your trade.

According to Bruce garrioch: https://twitter.com/...058061219074048

Roberto Luongo told the Sun-Sentinal he wants to go to the Panthers. Believe Florida's last offer was two players more likely for buyout.

We are talking about something like Upshall and Jovanovski here. Far from the Matthias, Howden, Petrovic, and 1st Round Pick you suggest.

Yes I know, but I'm trading Luongo by MG's standards. To get a roster player, 2 prospects, and a 1st is what would seem acceptable. If it is a guy like Versteeg we get in return for Luongo, then I expect less. Example...

Van: Luongo

Fla: Versteeg, 2013 1st Round Pick

Cory Schneider acquires more because it seems he is the type of goalie that some teams are looking for. Just like Carey Price, I would offer more for him but I went by your offer.

If Lu and Price were the same, then even more reason to have Lu + Arnott. Sure, Price is younger, and has potential to get even better, but that would only matter after roughly 5 years. And a lot can change after 5 years.

Therefore Lu + Arnott would give us the better chance to win now, so I'd go with that.

!/ I would not trade Jensen or Lack. Both of these players are going to be stars, especially Jensen.
2/ Vancouver is solid in goal and don't need Price.
3/ Price come with a big hit cap wise and Vancouver doesn't have a surplus of cap space.
No Thank you!

I know it sound weird at first, but let me explain.....

I am a Montreal fan and i am really disappointed in the 6.500 000$ we gave Price.

Since Price is a BC native i think Vancouver could have an interest for him. He is one of the best young goalie in the league.

And the best or all, i wont ask the moon for him, my asking price is Only Lack + Jensen + 2nd. I dont want any of Schneider or Luongo back as i dont like their contract as well. And since Vancouver want to win now and Montreal is going to miss the playoff anyway, asking only for prospect is a nice fit.

According to many of their post in many thread, Vancouver fans are among the one who really know how valuable are franchise goalies. I have also often hear how a proven asset worth more than prospect with no NHL experience. So i give you the opportunity to virtually acquire a proven young franchise goalie for a bargain!!

I know you already have Luongo, Schneider and Lack, but being already set in goal never ever been an obstacle for you to propose Luongo to Florida fans who already have Theodore, resigned Clemmensen and Markstrom.

Think about it....Im getting back Lack in the proposal and Vancouver is expected to trade Luongo anyways, so after the proposal Vancouver will have Price + Schneider and could be set in goal for the next decade. Having 2 elites goalies always been one of the main reason Vancouver was successful in the past few year, so lets continue the successful formula.

So any of you would accept my proposal? Any counter offer? (Also, Lets imagine for the sake of the argument that you wont be able to Trade Price back for more than you gave me, because you gave me the best offer around the league..do you still do it ?)

You're not a Habs fan... :picard: I'm a Habs fan myself, Price is an outstanding goalie, and it makes 0 sense for the Habs to trade away Price without receiving at least a proven number 1 goalie, a pick, and a prospect. The Habs already have Markov, Subban, Kaberle, Bouillon, Diaz, Emelim, Georges, and Weber on D. So they may not necessarily want a dman back (someone in this thread said something about trading Edler, I think :P). And their first 3 lines are mostly set with Pacioretty-Desharnais-Cole, Bourque-Plekanec-Gionta, and Moen-Eller-Armstrong, so this is why the prospect and pick route is the ideal choice. Although a scoring winger would also be nice, if Bourque can't get back to his 30ish goal self, and please don't say Higgins or Raymond, both are small players and that's something Montreal has too many of. Besides a goal-tending dual of Lack and Budaj would be just awful.

In my opinion the best deal we could make in the league is to acquire another starting goaltender, especially at the expense of our best two prospects and a 2nd rounder (I don't consider Kassian a prospect).

the crease is already crowded as it is, this just makes the situation worse, so as much as i like price, i gotta go with no. and the only way i could see montreal moving him at all is if theyre gonna try to tank so they can pick 1st overall.
