DonLever
The geniuses at Translink has done it again. A loophole allows fare evaders to escape getting a ticket if they refuse to provide ID. The government will amend the law but may take a few days. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/story/2012/09/07/bc-translink-fare-evasion.html

TOMapleLaughs
So... What happens now if you don't have ID on you? Translink means you don't really need a driver's license.

Columbo
Translink is a joke. They implement taxes, they raise fares etc etc. yet they don't put a system in place to catch the fare evaders. Then they wonder about operational losses.

Pouria
Yeah... too bad that that Translink doesn't have the jurisdiction to adjust their own fairs AND to change Provincial laws. What a joke!

Columbo
Yes, because putting a gate in place to prevent fare evaders on to skytrains needs to be consulted with the provincial government. I didn't know that. Do store owners also consult with federal and provincial government when they get a cash register in order to obtain money from customers? Do they also consult the provincial government when they put a security system in order to catch thieves?
