Carolina would like to welcome back Drayson Bowman, as well as our newest addition to the top 6, Lars Eller. This move was made to help add more skill to our top 9, as well as provide much needed depth at the forward position that was clearly missing last season. Carolina also added depth defensemen Tom Poti and Stefan Elliot, assuring there will be no issues if there are injuries anywhere in the lineup. Lineup now looks like this.

Bowman (84) - E.Staal (87) - Sutter (87)

Eller (84) - J.Staal (85) - Versteeg (83)

Semin (83) - Ruutu (83) - Smith (82)

Rask (65) - Nielsen (80) - Lazar (60)

Alzner (86) - Carle (86)

Faulk (79) - McBain (84)

Butler (78) - Weber (79)

Neuvirth (84)

Murphy (79)

The Chicago Blackhawks are very pleased to announce the acquisition of All-Star tender Pekka Rinne! At this time we would also like to thank Jonas Enroth for his time with us. With Rinne as the new starter, Chicago has something they haven't had since GM H2 took over, an elite goaltender. The GM had this to say. "With a long playoff run two years ago, and a disappointing run last year, goaltending was definately found to be an issue for us. We traded for a guy we thought could be "the guy" in Jaro(Halak) but he was supplanted twice by his younger backups (Enroth and Backman), and as you know we released him this year. With Rinne, we have a proven All-Star, a guy who puts up good numbers even when his team is awful. He comes up with the big save at the right time, and come playoff time, I think that will be huge for us."

Sources say that Chicago has had an eye on Rinne for a while now, even going as far as to acquire more Finnish born players such as Korpikovski and Filpula, and pushing hard after Alex Barkov(to no avail) to entice him over.

It's also worth noting that Rinne, now 31, should be a great influence on top goalie prospect Jack Campbell, who should be ready to take over the reigns as Rinne creeps closer to retirement in 5-8 years.
