At this time we would also like to thank Lui Eriksson, Brett Burns, Jaden Schwartz, Olli Matta, Greg Upshall, and Dimitri Orlov for their service to our team. GM H2 had this to say. "It's not every day you are in the position to acquire a Rocket Richard trophy winner who's still in his early 20's, but for the Hawks, today is that day. We are also happy to reacquire John Carlson. We really did not want to trade him due to his high skill level, youth and upside, and favourable cap hit. However at the time, we believed that we needed to strengthen our blue line. Today however, with the newly added Martinez, our defence is the deepest in the league, and with the injury to Tyler Myers, Carlson and Martinez will be expected to play big minutes. People may look at the deals we made today and say, "There goes their youth", but look at the players we got back, each one of them is young and just entering their prime, and are signed to longterm deals. We will continue to contend for the cup for years to come, and hope that we will not disappoint as we did last year." Note: Tyler Myers out 38 games. Corey Perry out for another 30ish games.
