WHL rocks
The NHL rules state that in event of a cancelled season all teams get a chance to select 1st overall next year. After the last lockout the Pittsburgh Penguins won the lottery and selected Sidney Crosby 1st overall, Canucks got the 9th pick and selected the now departed Luc Bourdon (RIP). Next year's 1st overall pick is projected to be a great one. Nathan MacKinnon is surely going to be a superstar. Are you willing to give up the NHL season due to lockout if Canucks got MacKinnon next year? Would a lock out make it worth missing a season of hockey for you? For me, I would not mind it at all. As previously declared I am on the owners side in the CBA dispute. If the owners got a good deal out of the lockout and the Canucks got MacKinnona at next years draft I would look back at it as a positive. Not that it need be said but no MacKinnon I take the season, obviously. What say you! Hypothetical question. No hockey future superstar or hockey and no superstar. Hobbes!!!
Well McKinnon would be amazing to have but I have no idea what I'm going to do with myself with no hockey. Once was enough. I can't go through this lockout thing again. Ahhhhhh
WHL rocks
So if we didn't get the first pick you'd hop in your time machine and make the players settle?
nuck nit
Odds are slim. I go with playing the NHL season. I am getting older and so are the Sedins.
brewdog
Ok, I'm rewriting this because I've rethought it. In a world where time machines exist... if we got this kid and he single-handedly won us the Cup in his rookie year, I might feel ok about missing a year of hockey. In the real world, though, I just want to watch hockey. I don't care if we don't win the Cup next year or the year after. Every season is filled with hundreds of special hockey moments. Those are the things I look forward to each summer. A shot at a Cup is just a nice bonus for me.

brewdog
The question is If we got MacKinnon. Not a "chance to get" MacKinnon. Would you look back and say the lockout was worth it? Ofcourse no one would want to throw away the season for a marginal chance, that would be non sensical.
Ossi Vaananen
It's not an all equal chance.... it's determined in part by the preceding 3 years performance. In this respect, Columbus, Edmonton and NYI are right up there. Yes, we would have a name in the ballot but by no means would we have an equal chance to these three aforementioned teams. White Goodman
i dont think i would be. With the Sedins getting older we could start to slip in standings and our cup chances could be smaller. Having said that, it could be good for guys like Kesler to get themselves right and help develop guys like Schroeder and Jensen.
