SOB for MVP

Looks like Providence shuts out Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in games 5 and 6 and wins both games 2-0 with all four goals coming in the third! We allowed 14 shots the first game and 9 shots the next! Providence moves onto round 2! Worcester Sharks are next.

Edmonton Oilers (2) vs. Chicago Blackhawks (3) Series Preview

Background: The Oilers and 'Hawks faced 4 times this season, 3 of which when to overtime. Chicago did win the season series 3 games to 1. Nail Yakupov, current Chicago GM, spent his previous VHL tender as the Oilers Assistant GM and was a big peice that helped assemble the 2013 Cup winning squad. Both teams struggled early on in the season, but each team was able to have a strong second half.

Edmonton Round One X-Factor: "Jumbo" Joe Thornton. Big Joe was crucial in round one for the Oil, leading the team with 10 points in just 5 games. He was a plus 4 in round one and helped charge a hot powerplay go 5 for 19.

Edmonton Keys To Victory: Edmonton must diversify its scoring. RNH, Hall, Horton, Schwartz, and Smyth all had 3 or less points in 5 games of the first round. Most importantly however, Antti Niemi has been the difference maker for the Oilers for the 2013 Stanley Cup run and looked to be in form last round. He can manage to win the series for the Oilers if he gets timely goals from the offence. To shut down the Blackhawks top line of Vanek-Toews-Brown, Edmonton will look to the pairing of Ian White and Brent Seabrook.

Edmonton VHL Playoff Record: 26-11

Chicago Round One X-Factor: Thomas Vanek. The Austrian sniper came over at the deadline and has fit right in with Toews and Brown on the 'Hawks top line. Vanek led the team in goals (4) and was second in points (7) through round one.

Chicago Keys To Victory: The Blackhawks must solve playoff star, Antti Niemi if they want to take the series. Crawford will be outdueled if it comes down to a goaltending match, so Toews and the Blackhawk offence must put up goals early on. The 'Hawks have been able to get scoring done from all lines, unlike the Oil in this years postseason. Aside from Thornton and Marleau, the Oilers offence hasn't really clicked, so if Chicago defenders must keen in on the top duo.

Chicago VHL Playoff Record: 15-14

Chicago # Players with Cup Rings: 4

Finally home from vacation so can make a proper post.

The Maple Leafs are very excited that the NYI won the lottery, having the 1st and 2nd round picks is something we never could have dreamed of. To not slow down the draft in any little way we will select the 2 players who everybody thinks we will. Next seasons lineup should look a little something like this. OTB for the Rangers is Ryan Johansen, MTL 1st 2014, WSH 1st 2014, Tim Erixon. Looking for a good top forward..

Hertl - Richards - Gaborik

Reinhardt - Johansen- Animisov

Adam - Strome- Bjustad

Hall - Wellwood - ???

Staal - Pitkanen

Girardi - Mcdonagh

Ekblad - Eminger

Lundvquist

Tokarski
