2013-14 (Oshawa Generals): 61-26-78-104, +22

2013-14 OHL Playoffs: 7-3-11-14, +5

...A very well-rounded two-way defenseman...very ambitious and competitive...is a consummate professional...gives absolutely everything on every shift... One of the hardest working players in the draft...possesses good speed and can log high minutes...plays an aggressive brand of hockey...reads and makes smart plays incredibly well...has a good shot from the point...

...First-steps and passing needs to improve as he continues to develop, but is physically ready for the NHL out of the draft...

Projected career role: Franchise defenceman, no. 1-2

ETA: Immediate-1 year

==========

2. Sam Reinhart

Position: C/RW

Height: 6’2”

...Is a natural goal-scorer...very ambitious and exhibits sportsmanship and class...Stamina is off-the-charts...Can pull off highlight reel moves with ease...Stickhandling and puck control is terrific...Seems to have a knack of finding open ice...

...Skating needs a lot of work...Intensity is inconsistent at times...defensive awareness is poor despite his best efforts...

Projected career role: Franchise forward, top-line potential

ETA: 1-3 years

==========

3. Aaron Irving

Position: D

Height: 6’2”

Weight: 187 lbs

Nationality: Canada

2013-14 (Regina): 44-17-31-48, +28

2013-14 (Seattle): 30-3-15-18, +17

2013-14 WHL Playoffs: 4-0-1-1, -3

...Mid-season trade from Regina to Seattle seemed to have unnerved the defenceman as his production dropped dramatically (although he got about 3 minutes less in ice-time)...an impressive two-way defenceman with decent skating and strength...Fantastic open-ice hitter when the opportunity presents itself...Works hard and is determined to succeed...Makes a great first-pass and has a cannon from the point...

...Offensive upside is still a question mark...can sometimes be found going out of position to lay the big hit...hockey sense is very poor...

Projected career role: No. 2-4 defenceman

ETA: 3-4 years

==========

4. Reid Gardiner

Position: RW/C

Height: 6’0”

Weight: 178 lbs

2013-14 (Kootenay): 50-43-45-88, +36

2013-14 WHL Playoffs: 5-0-2-2, +0

...One of the purest goal-scorers in the draft (tops with 73 goals)...An extremely determined player and leaves everything on the ice...has a fantastic work ethic and will make sacrifices for the sake of the team...Is a fair skater...Can surprise opponents as he is definitely not afraid to make or take a hit...Has incredible vision and sees plays other players can only dream of...Elusive; Always knows where to go or be in the offensive zone...Possess a great wrister and an absolute laser of a slapshot – Set him up on the man-advantage with a PP quarterback and watch him wire pucks just like Stamkos...

...Puck control needs a lot of work...Very 1-dimensional player, which could be a turn off to some teams...Hockey sense is only average...

Projected career role: Elite top-6 sniper

ETA: 2-3 years (1-2 if a team is in desperate of offense)

==========

5. Galim Efimov

Position: C/LW

Height: 5’7”

Weight: 158 lbs

Nationality: Kazakhstan

2013-14 (Barys - MHL): 8-7-7-14, +5

2013-14 (Barys - KHL): 32-10-8-18, +1

...Very diminutive forward but incredibly hard to knock off the puck...Lit up the Russian junior league and has gained valuable experience playing against men in the KHL....Scouts were left stunned at his incredible work ethic...Is a demon in the face-off circle...Possesses shifty one-on-one moves...Is confident with the puck and will find the right pass...handles the puck superbly...

...Size is the biggest concern as not everyone can become the next Martin St. Louis...Needs to continue work on his fitness/stamina...Skating and defensive awareness also needs to improve to make up for lack of size...

Projected career role: Top-6 or -9 offensive forward

ETA: 3-4 years

==========

2013-14 WHL Playoffs: 4-1-0-1, -4

...One of the biggest wildcards of the draft...Some scouts believe he may have the highest potential in this year’s draft class, but could take some time to develop...Phenomenal skater and good work ethic...Is a very good shot and passer...

...Nothing particularly stands out other than his skating and shot at the moment...high-risk, high reward type player...

Projected career role: Top-line sniper

ETA: 4-5 years

==========

7. Danyar Tomov

Position: RW

Height: 5’9”

Nationality: Kazakhstan

2013-14 (Barys - MHL): 8-8-3-11, +5

2013-14 (Barys - KHL): 32-9-5-14, +2

...Pure power forward with incredible strength for his stature... Plays a very aggressive and fearless game...tireless player who seems to never run out of energy...Boasts good puckhandling and passing ability...Sometimes try to pull of dekes...Shot is only average...Can play some defense...

...Some concerns about his overall ceiling as a player, but otherwise a very typical power forward...Skating may need to improve...

Projected career role: Power forward, top-6 potential

ETA: 4-5 years

==========

8. Alexej Tikonov

Position: RW/LW

Height: 6’1”

Weight: 176 lbs

2013-14 (CSKA - MHL): 32-33-20-53, +33

2013-14 (CSKA - KHL): 1-0-0-0, +0

Burned the Russian junior ranks at a goal-per-game pace...Has already been labelled as the next ‘Pavel Bure’ as he has one of the highest top speed in this year’s draft...One of the many first-class skaters in this year's draft...Has outstanding stamina and strength...Not afraid to try extremely flashy moves...Boasts an electrifying set of mitts that work at the same warp speed as his skating...Possesses one of the best wrist shots capable of finding corners with alarming consistency...

...As temperamental as skilled Russians come...still needs to fill out his frame to play an effective power forward game...Success overseas could mean a tougher signing for the team that drafts him as the KHL is ready to do essentially anything to keep the young star in Russia...

Projected career role: Elite power forward/sniper, top-line potential

ETA: 1-3 years

==========

9. Reid Duke

Position: C

Height: 6’0”

...Has endless offensive talent... Leads the draft class with 146 points...Gives heart and soul on the ice...Is creative and willing to try innovative things on the ice...Fantastic faceoff man...Can set up or shoot the puck equally well...Superb at finding open ice...

...Skating needs immense improvement if he is to make an impact in the NHL...Needs to improve his strength...Decision-making and hockey sense are below average...

Projected career role: Elite sniper, top-line potential

ETA: 2-3 years

==========

2013-14 (Tri-City): 31-20-18-38, +15

2013-14 WHL Playoffs: 20-13-8-21, +16

...Is a model player...has an incredibly high fitness level...capable skater with deceptive speed...Fairly respectable in the faceoff circle...Has a solid shot, but also willing to go to the front of the net for deflections...Very good hitter...Works hard and is a good teammate...

...Skating, offensive awareness, and puckhandling need improvement...Offensive upside is questionable for the NHL level...

Projected career role: Two-way forward, top-9 potential

ETA: 4-5 years
