So, real NHL teams let their prime aged stars walk if they have the cap space? I don't know how we're going to go up to teams and be like 'whoa, whoa, you're not allowed to sign Perry even though you can afford it'

Briere and Drury told Buffalo they didn't want to stay. All the others could have chosen to stay with their teams. Teams don't ever choose to let their FAs walk if they have the money, and if it was your big FA going to market because we forced you to, I'm sure you'd be less than thrilled. All we can do is wait for paying Malkin 12.5m to make a younger stud available in 3-4 years, but we can't force anyone to let FAs walk
