I would propose this 4 week schedule if people wanna slow down and do a few less seasons:

Phase #1: Entry draft period

SUN: Draft priority (one day window for all teams to set priority for draft)

MON: Entry draft (you do not need to be on for this as the CPU drafts for you based on draft priority)

Phase #2: Re-sign period

TUE: Re-sign phase (Day 1)

WED: Re-sign phase (Day 2)

THU: Re-sign phase (Day 3)

Phase #3: Free Agency period

FRI: Free agency (Day 1)

SAT: Free Agency (Day 2)

SUN: Free Agency (Day 3)

Phase #4: Offseason period

MON: Offseason (July)

TUE: Offseason (August)

WED: Offseason (September)

Phase #5: Pre-season

THU: Pre-season and designate players to junoirs/minors with waivers off

FRI: Prepare for regular season (one day pause)

Phase #6: Regular season - Part 1

SAT: Regular season (October)

SUN: Regular season (November)

MON: Regular season (December)

TUE: Christmas break (one day pause)

Phase #7: Regular season - Part 2

WED: Regular Season (January)

THU: Regular Season (February)

FRI: Trade deadline (one day pause)

Phase #8: Regular season - Part 3

SAT: Regular Season (March)

SUN: Regular Season (April)

MON: Prepare for playoffs (one day pause)

Phase #9: Playoffs

TUE: Round 1 (all games)

WED: Round 2 (all games)

THU: Round 3 (all games)

FRI: Round 4 (all games)

SAT: Prepare for offseason (one day pause)

So, for all you people arguing a month per season is too long, I would say this: Do you really want to play a ton of seasons and then get to a point where it is all made up players? I have never made it to a full 25 seasons in Be a GM in the past because i got bored of playing with made up players and the longer it goes into the future the more unrealistic it gets. Tomorrow is October 1, and NHL 14 wont come out until this coming September.... this means we will have time to get more than 10 seasons in with this system. I think that might even be pushing it a little in terms of how realistic it will be by the time we get to the 10th and 11th season.

DAAD, BoGs, and fellow GMs, please consider this detailed, well thought-out proposal as I beleive it makes a lot of sense for this great league of ours.

Too few seasons. there has to be a reasonable 3 weeks per season/17 seasons over the year schedule. A month is way too long, to be honest I find it slow as it is. 2 less days in Free Agency, 4 less days in the season, no Christmas break and we're down to 3 weeks

I still think this is the best schedule

Day 1 - Preseason and October

Day 2 - Novemeber

Day 3 - December

Day 4 - January

Day 5 - To Trade Deadline

Day 6 - Day off for Trading

Day 7 - End of season

Day 8 - Playoffs

Day 9 - Draft and start re-signing

Day 10 - Re-signing (2 sims AM and PM)

Day 11 - Re-signing (2 sims AM and PM)

Day 12 - UFA

Day 13 - UFA

Day 14 - UFA

I like that schedule ^. Also Trav, could you tell me the CDC name of the Oilers GM, I still haven't got Paajarvi after a whole season and was hoping I could have him to start next season. I checked the OP and saw Oil Rigger listed as the Oilers GM, and I know that he isn't the GM at the moment.

Thanks!
