Ahh memories...

Marc Chouinard...scored hat tricks in his first two games of the season or something absolutely crazy like that in his previous season with the Wild.

Jan Bulis...for a guy that came in with a fair share of expectation after a couple consistent seasons with the habs where he scored 20 goals he made us forget about any hope of that pretty quickly.

As for those throwing Eric Weinrich under the bus, don't forget about Keith Carney, the most that man accomplished in a Canuck uniform was looking like the brother of Todd Bertuzzi.

And to mention another tandem that seemed to be more of a detriment than an asset upon arrival to the team were Byron Ritchie and Brad Isbister, man did they bring zero to the team.

OMG SUNDIN.

The word fear is not in our dictionary, it is in the eyes of the enemy.

The objective of war is not to die for your country, it is to make the enemy die for theirs.

One generation plants the trees, the other gets the shade.

Not necessarily the worst, but:

Brad Isbister
Byron Ritchie
Marc Chouinard
Keith Carney
Eric Weinrench
Geoff Sanderson
Martin Rucinsky

While we can certainly be thankful that Nonis didn't blow up our core to get Brad Richards, he sure had a penchant for poor deadline/FA moves (Disclaimer: can't remember if Nonis was responsible for all of the abovementioned players)

OMG we could've had McKeown!

I think Virtanen was a terrible pick given that he's out for 6 months which will hinder his development. You don't pick someone at #6 under that circumstance, along with the fact that he was given a 3/5 IQ (aka he's dumb).

God dammit Benning. WHY VIRTANEN? Terrible move.

Down by the River - Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young.

worst player: Vladimir Krutov aka donut boy

...a bumper from a pinball machine would get 30 assists on the backend when playing with the Sedins.

Many would argue the same rules apply for both Messier and Krutov in this discussion. To distinguish the two based on ability and accomplishments makes little sense. As I've already criticized Messier and stated he was disastrous as a Canuck, I would also discuss Krutov in the same fashion. Both were terrible in Canucks uniforms.

Messier was a successful Oiler and Ranger. Krutov, at one time, was considered one of the greatest players on the planet. Thus, to call him the worst player to play for this team would make no sense. It would be rational only to consider both of them "worst for franchise" players.

Messier was dreadful as a Canuck. He was not at all the player he was previously in his career. The same applied to Krutov.

Definetly Jan Bulis.

I can never remember being so frustrated with a particular player.

This one is frickin easy!!

Don Cherry.

Hands down - the worst Canuck ever!! Looks like a still from a horror flick.

And if he doesn't count, don't try to reason with us folks - it was Messier.

Clutch - perhaps you found a more appropriate "Did we really need him?"

Nice pick!

The fans booed that bum whenever he touched the puck. Definitely the top all-time fan whipping boy.

My vote would have to go to Eric Weinrich.

16 games as a Canuck. No goals, no assists, -13.

Luckily, they didn't really give up anything to acquire him.

As for those throwing Eric Weinrich under the bus, don't forget about Keith Carney, the most that man accomplished in a Canuck uniform was looking like the brother of Todd Bertuzzi.

At least Carney got 2 points in his 18 games and was only minus 5.

I'll add to the list Robin Bawa. I think he managed two games with the team. His most notable accomplishment was knocking out the glass in one of those games.

Brad Ference? And guess who was picked two spots after him in the 1997 draft.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

Eric Weinrich.

He was a trade deadline addition at a time when it felt like we needed a little push to really contend. He turned out to be Nonis' 39 year-old buddy who looked lost on the ice, even between whistles. It was the first time I ever thought a trade deadline addition made us a worse team. 16 GP. 0 Points. -13. He never played in the NHL again. It was like he came here to die.

Steve Bernier.

I've never seen a 6'3" 220lb guy play like such a wimp. Until I looked up his stats, I thought he was 6' 195lb. I know it was only two years, but it felt like he was here FOREVER. Probably because he seemed like a huge disappointment every time he stepped on the ice.

Geoff Courtnall.

I'm including him for personal reasons. I met him when I was 12 and he was a total dick to me and my friend during a Canucks team event called Pasta da Puck.

I met Geoff and well and he was a dick to me as well? He must be a dick, but I loved the way he played.

He is just a fan who skated with them as a publicity stunt. Thats like saying Justin Bieber is a Leaf because he skated with them.

I bet you Bieber is better at hockey than some of their players

A lot of the players mentioned in this thread had some points or wins for the Canucks.

But the worst player ever to play for the Canucks is Martin Brochu - no wins in his NHL career!

When the Canucks picked him up the management said he was going to be a capable backup! But after playing like
a sieve he was put on waivers about a month later!

Total Bust!!!

I'm basing this based on a "full time player"

but i'm going to say Dan Cloutier. Worst number 1 goalie of all time. Just terrible. Costed us a Stanley cup run, potentially a stanley cup. If we defeated the Wild, all that stood in our way was the Anahiem Ducks and a Average roster of the New Jersey Devils. That season, Colorado, Detroit, Dallas, was already defeated. So we didn't have to worry about any of those teams. The road was really paved for us that year. All gone. Cloutier allowed 15 goals on 60 shots, I grand total of a 75% save percentage in the final 3 games against Minnesota that year.

Players Nikolaj Ehlers have been compared too by the fan base of the Vancouver Canucks.

1 Pavel Bure

2 Markus Naslund

3 Nathan Mackkinon

4 Jonathan Drouin.

5 Jonathan Tavares

http://bleacherrepor...d-top-prospects

combine results.  Ehlers 5'11 162 lbs of solid rock.

^ Right. That's why Cloutier held so many team goaltending records until Luongo showed up. Because he was the worst player the team ever had? :sadno:

If I was a new hockey fan...I would probably think that Luongo is the worst player to ever suit up in a Vancouver uniform judging from the hostile responses towards him on these forums....
