Sensation in Crimmitschau: NHL stars Stewart and Simmonds lockout thanks to the Ice Pirates

It is the transfer sensation quintessential Zweitligist Crimmitschau secured thanks to the lockout, the services of the two NHL stars Chris Stewart and Wayne Simmonds. Eispiraten CEO Rene Rudorisch even speaks proudly of "transfer coup of the century." On Tuesday, the two players are expected in Germany on Friday and should be seen in the derby against white water already in Sahnpark. "We were prepared for a sell out and hope for a corresponding Resonsanz the fans," said in an interview with Hockey Rudorisch NEWS.

The 24-year-old attacker Stewart has played 271 games in the main round of the NHL, where he was drafted in the first round by Colorado. In the past season earned Stewart EUR 3 million and took it in the jersey of the St. Louis Blues on 15 goals and 15 assists.

Simmonds is also 24 years old, was drafted in the second round of Los Angeles and brought it so far to 322 NHL main round games. In the last season he earned $ 1.75 million and came to the Philadelphia Flyers on 28 goals and 21 assists.

It achieved the obligations serendipity and sponsors. "I want to express my sincere thanks to the sponsors, without whom this would not have been possible," says Rudorisch. About the exact totals for salary, insurance, etc. silent one off. "This secrecy is also fixed by contract, so I can not comment on that," said the managing director Eispiraten. What is certain is that not the entire amount has been provided. "But the time was relatively short, and it had to go fast.'s Why I'm assuming that one or the other sponsor comes to that, also we also expect that the fans follow suit accordingly." The contract will run once for 30 days.

"Manager Ronny Bauer and coach Fabian Dahlem have contacted a German agent and contact man in search of reinforcements. The established contact to agent Eustace King in North America, and so the matter came to running," explains Rudorisch, which, however, a circumstance in which Hands played: Both players know each other since childhood and were eager to accumulate together. "They also had other offers, for example in Sweden, but nowhere had it been possible to play together."

After the "Germanization" of Martin Heinisch and the violation of the Jake Morissette Eispiraten currently already had two quota places freely. No less important fact: "We want to bring the whole team not totally confused," said Rudorisch.

question here, if the nhl season begins anytime this season, can all these signed players come back, because if the can't and non of our players have signed overseas, were gonna have a complete team while other teams will be at a disadvantage :towel:

They can't "come back" it's their legal obligation to. They have to.
They are under contract, their European contracts all have out clauses. Like, if the NHL returns so do they to their NHL team.

Even bigger shock!

Nottingham Panthers sign NHL forward Anthony Stewart

Nottingham Panthers have taken advantage of the lock-out in the NHL by signing Carolina Hurricanes forward Anthony Stewart on a short-term deal.

There are currently no matches in the NHL because of a pay dispute between owners and players.

The support from management in bringing this about has been fantastic”

Corey Neilson

Panthers player-coach Corey Neilson said: "I'm genuinely thrilled to see him joining us, for however long.

"The lock-out has opened up some doors to bring in someone of Anthony's character and ability."

Many of the NHL players have decided to stay in North America and play in the American Hockey League, the step below the NHL, while some have decided to find clubs in Europe.

During the last lock-out in 2004-05, numerous NHL players played in the UK's Elite League and the Panthers signed defenceman Nick Boynton, who went on to win the Stanley Cup with Chicago Blackhawks in 2010.

The Panthers also brought in fellow defenceman Ian Moran and forward Steve McKenna and the trio helped Nottingham reach the play-offs in 2005 but lost 2-1 to Coventry in the final.

Neilson added: "The support from management in bringing this about has been fantastic.

"The boss picked up the baton less than 24 hours ago and, with backing from the chairman, here we are making an announcement of this nature. Fantastic."
