I agree. However, despite this being a surprise for Cloutier, I think most people could see this signing 50 feet away

Despite how many people are still bitter about Cloutier's playoff moments and refuse to let it go, he was still a fantastic goalie for us. I think this is a great move.

Good. He gets far too much criticism even though he did a decent job here.

I actually concur, Scottish. Was he not our best goalie stats-wise until Luongo came? Fun to poke at but he doesn't get his fair shake

Only Canuck I've ever got a chance to have an actual conversation with years ago. Awesome guy. Still my all-time favourite player, even if just for the nostalgia.

Glad to hear he's back in the organization.

I like to see this kind of signing, the original six teams have a strong "alumni" presence from former players who are still involved in some way with the club... it is a good thing.

Terrible signing, sure some of his stats looked good but how could they not playing behind 1 of the best offensive teams at the time...he was exposed in LA.

Good signing. Just because he let in that Lidstrom goal doesn't make him the terrible goalie so many people claim he is.

I think "in Chicago" for training camp. I think he will be based in Vancouver though since he didn't want to be the full-time coach of the Barrie Colts because that would have required him to be away from family.

He actually was a pretty decent goalie - just had a few playoff mistakes and the playoffs tend to define goalies careers.

Good signing. He can teach our future prospects how to not let in the odd ball goals that way we don't have to see it again. However if it does happen to one of them I can see the headlines already :picard:

? best offensive teams don't necessarily make goaltenders look good.
also, he won't be playing against LA - he'll be coaching young goaltenders.

how is this a terrible signing? He is not becoming a goalie for the Canucks again. Look at all the goalie coaches in the league and how many of them could actually play in the NHL right now? Those that can't do teach lol.

Its hard to say if this is a good signing or not but one thing going for Cloutier is that he has had the experience and a lot of it on the negative end which brings a unique prespective which is probably beneficial for the young goalies.

one of the worst number 1 goalies in nhl history. Dear gosh was he overrated. We went into every f in playoff series knowing we have a weaker goalie then the other team. Unreal. Burke your a f in moron for bringing him in.

Players Nikolaj Ehlers have been compared too by the fan base of the Vancouver Canucks.

1 Pavel Bure

2 Markus Naslund

3 Nathan Mackkinon

4 Jonathan Drouin.

5 Jonathan Tavares

combine results.  Ehlers 5'11 162 lbs of solid rock.

This is not time for people to judge his playing career. He wasn't hired to play for the Canucks, he was hired to help our prospects.

He seems like he's a good guy that can help mentor our young goaltenders, which can only be a good thing.

Why would anyone complain about this? Having a goalie coach for Lack and Cannata could help their development big time.

He's not gonna be there to tell Cory Schneider and Eddie Lack how to play goal. That will be Rollie Melanson's job.

He'll probably be based in Vancouver where his primary duties will probably be to scout the other team's goalies for the team. Fly out to Chicago when they have an extended homestand to work with them.

He wasn't one of the best goalie's in the NHL when he played, but he did a good job for us. Some are better as a coach than they are as players/professionals, may be the same for Cloutier. He will really help the young goalies in Chicago....

While I agree that he wasn't the greatest goalie, I completely disagree with your analysis. Worst number 1 goalie in nhl history? Please stop before you make yourself look bad.

FYI he was a goalie, not a forward
