Was once challenged to a bacon eating contest while on vacation in Costa Rica. My 3 idiot buddies didn't believe my stories about devouring bacon. The challenge was that if I couldn't eat 3 packs of thick slice bacon by myself in 90 mins I would give them each $100.

If I could eat it all they would then pay me $6 a slice for every slice I ate beyond the 3 packs. Made a nice pile of cash that day but I felt like ass for awhile after. Could practically feel the bacon grease oozing out of my pours.

mmmmmmmmmm Bacon.

BTW, I took your suggestion last night. I had bacon sandwiches for dinner.

/ Damn right I'm bitter. What do i have to look forward to? Back to back Madonna shows this weekend? Yippee. :sadno: And now I find out that we're running short of bacon! What the hell is happening?

This planet is going into the crapper. I knew that last reincarnation was a bad idea.

Bacon sandwiches last night were delish. :towel:

I know what you're saying TM, as goes the bacon supply, so goes the world.

These are surely the end times, if ever there were any.

Climate Change, that's what to blame.....that and Madonna's unnatural buff granny body. It's all sacrilege!

Speaking of bacon, anyone seen the Triple O's ad for the peanut butter bacon jalapeno burger?

Posted Image

Ok, finally had it tonight, burger was pretty good actually, but could take or leave the jalapenos. Got the shake with it too, and that was actually really tasty even though I'm not a fan of bananas. As mentioned, that's a lot of stuff to process in a night (probably still better than what is pictured in avalanch's post, but hardly healthy) but would eat again.

The shake is more peanut buttery than the burger, which has the jalapeno and bacon come through, but equally satisfying for a fan of peanut butter and of bacon.

not too far back many farmers culled their herds because there was too much pork available.

cream cheese wrapped in chicken, then wrapped in bacon and BBQ`d

Posted Image

Use wood chips, for smoking, soaked in a cider then wrapped in aluminium foil, if you don't have a smoker box, and slow cook the chicken. Also put in a tray with chicken broth into the BBQ for moisture. You will not regret it. Baco shortage will not hurt us here in Australia as they do not import pork, beef, or any other meats. We are safe. Mmmm bacon.

For some sort of substance to this thread, what is your favorite way to eat bacon? Most bizzare culinary creation you've ever seen bacon involved in? Voice your baconpinion!

Bacon makes anything better.

Any food that is merely mediocre, when paired with bacon, instantly becomes amazing.

No problem finding bacon at the grocery stores down here. Then again, most of the bacon around here comes from Texas and Louisiana, and there was no drought here. Plus, down here, they really know how to smoke meat (not inject the smoke, but actually smoke it over hickory or oak).

Just in case it comes to desperate measures, my cousin is looking at doing a turducken dinner at his restaurant in Langley. Last Monday of October I think, I've got the link to their website in my sig and he posted the news of the turducken on their FB page. If bacon fails us, the best possible alternative in poultry is a close second.
