Strombone1
Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger IIHF says Yakupov does not have approved transfer card to play in KHL. Russian Hockey fined. Appeal can be heard. Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger Russian Feds have 7 days to respond to Hockey Canada's appeal process. Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger Tough spot for the Oilers who want Yakupov to play during NHL lockout. Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger NHL says it doesn't have a stake in the Yakupov controversy, however, NHLPA says its looking into it. Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger Oilers want what is best for Yakupov. If he can't play in KHL, they want him playing in Sarnia. Bottom line, they want him playing.

avelanch
why wouldn't the oilers have listed him as one of the recallable chl players?

TOMapleLaughs
So the IIHF suspended him playing in the KHL? I seem to recall the same thing happening to Radulov when he abandoned Nashville. In the end it didn't make any difference. However, Nail preferring the KHL over Sarnia, where he was under contract to play this season, is the main indicator of why the Oilers might have wanted to draft Murray instead. Frack, Yakkity-Yak might never come back...
elvis15
It's not really a suspension, he just hasn't been approved to play there since Sarnia holds his rights. It's a good possibility it gets approved since the Oilers don't object and there's a lockout (after all, it's what we did with Jensen) but it's just a question of getting the transfer card signed off before he can play another game. They don't want any risk of injury where insurance would become a problem since he isn't approved yet to play outside of the OHL.

SkeeterHansen
Oilers fans have dubbed him "N64" based on his decision to wear #64 with their team. But I suppose there will always be those who refer to him merely as "Yak."

ChuckNORRIS4Cup
Plus, in the one game Nail has played in the KHL already, he was very noticeable. Check out his successful attempt to walk through the opposng team's defense at 1:08 of the video (with a replay at 1:43), a good wraparound attempt at 1:51, and then a tremendous scoring opportunity at 4:41:
