Someone please end this lockout so we don't have to see this stupidity.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

If its a full season forget it. But playing 3 month of hockey when all the other teams are well rested? Why not use the short year to the teams best advantage and turn it into glass half full situation. While the twins have 5 years maybe left... Why drop out on potential high picks ? You wouldn't want McKinnon?

Its not like all the other teams are the only rested ones. Kesler gets a chance to recover, Kassian, Tanev, and the other young guns get some more developmental time, and everyone else gets rest.

If anything, we should be a better team post-lockout, provided that the twins don't round the corner on the decline.

If you think of something really stupid ... should you put it in a thread?

It's better to keep silent and be thought a fool that to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

The season is the same length for every team. A shorter season for Vancouver means less travel, less wear and tear and more energy available for the playoffs. No professional hockey team is going to "tank" a season so management can have a better pick to replace them as players. Your comment is obviously just an attempt at getting attention and, judging from the response, it worked.

I sure will be glad when we get back to hockey and have something real to talk about.

BTW, I will not support the NHL financially this year or next. No game tickets, no team jerseys and no pay TV. I will watch the free games on TV but not support the advertisers. The "big business" of hockey entertainment has annoyed me severely. I am taking at least a 2 year leave from support because the owners already have their season ticket income for this year, holding the fans hostage by not refunding them for the cancelled games. No wonder they're billionaires!

I spend half my money on Wine, Women and Song.
The other half I waste!

Purposely losing is an honourless tactic and any team even considering doing so doesn't deserve to play the game. This isn't badminton. Get your head out of your arse.

Tanking is a stupid idea and you're stupid for considering it. Also, your face is stupid for letting your stupid brain see the computer screen so you could convey this stupid idea. In addition, your hands, part of your alliance of stupidity, are also stupid for stupidly typing your stupid idea for all to read.

PS. Thanks for letting me take out my frustration over the lock-out on you. It's like the NHL is my girlfriend and she's decided to withhold sex until I agree to give her more than half of my earnings :sadno:

If we start playing in December or January and stay healthy/no cheap shots, we win the cup. Calling it now. I realize the chances of someone not getting seriously injured or suspended or something are low, but crazier things have happened: LA winning the cup last year for instance...

Short season: blip on the radar.... Regroup for the full season and use the short year to grab and stockpile on high draft picks??? Perhaps an opening to groom replacement players for the soon to be retired Sedins?

Why is it that every village has an idiot? The stupidity of Here's Johnny is unbelievable.

How could you even ask a question like that is beyond me..............This is sport, where there should be no place for "tanking it" in any circumstances. Were you watching the Olympics?
How would you feel if we were shooting past our own goalie because the other teams were "tanking it" too. Sad.

My theory is that if the Canucks ever end up winning it will be in a situation where there is some sort of caveat which our enemies can point to and say, "yeah but..." and make it out like it was a less-than-100%-legit win. I mean, wouldn't that just figure? I've been a fan for many years and it just seems like that's something that would happen with this franchise. I'd still take it though!

If there is a shortened season I expect the teams with a low roster turnover from last year to do well. There will be little or no training camp so the team with the players that are most familiar with each other will do well. Vancouver should be in a good position, both goalies are returning, the only change on defense is swapping Salo for Garrison which is a serious upgrade and Garrison should be riding hte excitement during the first season of playing for his hometown team. Booth, Burrows, Hansen, Higgins, Kesler (when healthy), Lapierre, Malhotra, Raymond, Daniel, Henrik, Volpatti and Weise are all returning.

If any team intentionally throws a season their franchise should be revoked immediately. I'm sure it's happened with some lowwer end teams, but a team with the caliber of the Canucks will take advantage of the shortened season, not fold because of it.

Maybe since this a shoterned season the Canucks should trade the Sedins and Kesler for draft picks? :frantic:

So we should intentionally lose in hopes of getting a good prospect that will be helpful in a couple of years to HOPEFULLY make us a contender instead of going for it right now while we are a contender. That logic does not compute.

I don't ride with the band, I roll with the team.

I've been a Canuck fan since 2004-05 when the team was going through a huge transition phase, missed the playoffs

No athlete with a shred of honor would ever contemplate doing this.

Good luck going into the 'Nucks dressing room and telling a championship-calibre team "hey guys, just go out there and lose every game, waste this entire year of your careers and a chance at a cup, so the organisation can pick this kid who might be amazing or something"

Listen to yourself, OP, you're talking like a crazy person.

Absolutely not. I'd lose respect for any team that would intentionally tank it as part of an agenda. Really compromises sports and is a slap in the face to fans who pay for tickets.

Ridiculous proposal.

I nominate you to be the one to go into the dressing room and tell the Sedins to tank the season. As much as you've lost credibility as a fan with your top post, by following through and telling the team to tank it you'll prove you don't "get" sport.

Just so I get the logic here:

1/ Tank this season so we can get a high draft pick
2/ The high draft pick hopefully works out and becomes a stud NHL'er
3/ At some point our stud youngster leads us to the S/C say 4-5 years down the road

Sounds like you've thought this through.

I say we compete for the cup EVERY year...just saying.

Troll. The Sedins are 32. They aren't leaving for Sweden for another five years.

Or 2-3 years after the lockout ends?

We don't even know the prospects for the 13-14 draft class ;)

Or use the shortened season as a benefit to rest, recharge and win the damn cup. I don't get people with your mentality. We aren't losers like the Oilers. Only losers think this way.
