-AJ-
Here is #29! Dale Hawerchuk, Stan Mikita, and Vladislav Tretiak all had 3 nominations. I used Excel's random function to determine who was added to the list. Tretiak had the highest number, so he was added to the list. -AJ-
I feel like this one is gonna be a landslide. I'm voting for the legendary Terry Sawchuk. I don't really even need to go on and on about what he's done. 103 shutouts, 2nd all-time. 447 wins, four Vezina Trophies, the Calder Trophy. Sawchuk is considered by some to be the best goaltender of all-time. Hawerchuk keeps on losing in the nomination tie-breakers , but he's almost gotten in now. For the ninth consecutive time, I'm nominating Dale Hawerchuk. This guy had a pretty underrated career because he never won a cup, but he was one best consistent offensive forces in the game in the 80s and the early 90s. He had a crazy rookie year with 103 points (winning the Calder) and finished his career with 6 seasons of 100 or more points. Only 5 players have had 100 or more points more often. He topped out at 53 goals and 77 assists for an incredible 130 points in 1984-85. He's still at 18th All-Time in career points with 1,409 points, more than both Brett Hull and Guy Lafleur, who have both already been voted in. mrsasaki
Voting Nominating Borje Salming This guy was a warrior. He was pretty much the first Swede to thrive in the NHL, and one of the first Europeans too for that matter. He amassed 787 points in 1148 games, not bad for a defenseman. He completely proved the "chicken swede" theory wrong as he got 1344 PIMS over his career, as well as his famous and horrific injury, in which his face was stepped on and he needed nearly 200 stitches. He paved the way for Swedes in the NHL, such as Mats Sundin, Daniel Afredsson, Henrik Zetterberg, the Sedin twins, Mattias Ohlund, Peter Forsberg and Nicklas Lidstrom. He remains a fan favourite in Toronto as well as all over Sweden.
