The Victoria Royals history of game 1's in round 2 is not very great.

L 8-2 vs. Portland Winterhawks - 2014
L 5-0 vs. Kelowna Rockets - 2015
W 2-1 vs. Kelowna Rockets - 2016
L 7-0 vs. Tri-City Americans - 2018
L 3-0 vs. Vancouver Giants - 2019

sounds like a solid trade for the Royals.

Agreed.  Drop one spot in the draft in exchange for a proven goalie?  It's a no-brainer.

I was worried how Gould would do as the number 1 goalie.

I was reading this article on the minimum wage lawsuit against the WHL:

One tidbit jumped out at me...

The Oil Kings were the WHL’s most profitable club in 2016, with a $1.4 million profit, while the Victoria Royals reported the largest loss at $1.5 million.

I wonder how long they can keep that up?  I would hate to lose our WHL team again.

 I wonder how that managed to happen, they've always been fine in the average attendance lists.

They're right there with Kelowna and Seattle...

My guess is the problem is the travel.  They have to add the cost of the ferry on every road trip.  Plus, I bet they wind up with extra hotel / food costs due to the ferries too.  For example, Kelowna plays in Kamloops, after the game they can go home.  Victoria plays in Kamloops, after the game there is no way they will make it on the 9pm ferry.  Do they get a hotel room or sleep on the bus?

that's strange, maybe it's too expensive for them or something.
