"What players need is the right kind of strength and power. That includes learning to understand that leverage and positioning can be just as important as raw strength when it comes to winning battles in the game. It's more about timing and athleticism --and avoiding injury--than it is about how much you can bench press. I don't know how many times I've seen a guy with the physique of a defensive end line up a guy half his size, only to bounce off when he connects. Sure, there is room in the game for big guys who can throw their weight around. But for the most part, players are smart enough to see them coming--and strong enough to protect the puck when they arrive. There are trainers out there who know how to devlop hockey-specific strength--though a trainer can help only if a player follows the program. All too often, I've seen players sign up with the best trainer, but not show up for their workouts and never to reap the benefits."

Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

Man we had a pretty good team for a couple of years. Too bad about the Lidstrom fluke goal and the Bert incident. There was a chance to make a run during those years.

Gotta say Clutes was loved by his teammates. Crow liked him a lot too. Took him to LA with him when he got a coaching gig with the Kings. Cloutier never was the same after that Lidstrom goal.

man all anyone ever remember Cloutier for is the Lidstrom goal

But he was actually a decent goalie, just when Jovo is your top shut-down defenseman all you can do is laugh and sob

Maybe so but I just couldn't leave the coincidence alone.... too good. That being said I was a huge fan of Clouts the person and the player... he just couldn't get over that hump. The way the Kings treated him was criminal and I'm happy that he's back in the organization.

Thanks again folks!

It's not because he let in a goal like that, it's because he's a Canuck and was never a super star goalie. I don't see people making those pictures about Brodeur's gaff in the playoffs that one time.

Agreed.

Those pictures speak more about the fans then they do about Cloutier.

Marty. You know, the guy that has been playing for the Devils since Moses wore short pants. Not sure what you meant by that question, lol

Im pretty sure we had a brodeur once too....and probably a better comparison to Cloutier as well as both never won anything.

Now Marty, who while guilty of the odd gaffe as you say, has a few more trophies on the mantle than most and really can't be used as a comparable to Cloutier.

That's what I meant by that question. Just needed your clarification.
