RUPERTKBD
So, just to keep the conversation going on the greatest band this country has ever produced, let's hear your favorite albums/songs. I know there is going to be a lot of 2112 and Moving Pictures, but I'm partial to Farewell to Kings and Closer to the Heart.

Grapefruits
James Adams need a boot to the nuts ----------------------------------- Does Rush deserve its Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination? The Globe and Mail Published Thursday, Oct. 04 2012, 5:43 PM EDT Last updated Friday, Oct. 05 2012, 9:31 AM EDT 154 comments No, it just proves that if you hang in long enough, eventually you’ll be invited to join You can’t say there has been a (ahem) rush to judgment in the decision to nominate Rush for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. After all, the Canadian trio, birthed in a basement in Willowdale in the late sixties, has been eligible for many years. But the announcement signals yet another lapse in taste on the part of the Hall that has seen non-entities such as the Dave Clark Five, ABBA and Don Kirshner join worthy inductees like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the Grateful Dead. Yes, Geddy Lee may be a better singer now than in 1977, but has time really healed the millions of eardrums his caterwauling injured, nay destroyed, over most of the band’s career? The Rush nomination also highlights a glaring omission in the Hall’s (non)-recognition of Canadian talent, namely its continued disavowal of the genius of the Guess Who. Rush should insist that the wrong be righted before it receives consideration. Its nomination is simply proof that if you hang in long enough, eventually you’ll be invited to join a club to which you should not belong. – James Adams Yes, this audacious nerd trio belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Rush is the serious goods; no time for the dainty. And it’s called progressive rock for a reason, so, rubes, move on. If for the concept album 2112 alone, this audacious nerd trio belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, that messed-up place of Madonna, backbeats and and ersatz priests from The Temples of Syrinx. Geddy Lee, the whip-voiced siren, laid it on the line in 1976: “See how [Rush] sings like a sad heart, and joyously screams out its pain/ sounds that build high like a mountain, or notes that fall gently like rain.” These pasty suburbanites had so much rock, there was no time for the roll. Pretentious lyrics and outrageous time signatures from Neil Peart? Bring it on. (And his most excellent seventies ’stache too.) Guitarist Alex Lifeson: Did he not invent the use of the chorus effect on 1977’s A Farewell to Kings? Listen to Rush’s music and hear what it can do, Rock and Hall of Fame in Cleveland. There’s something there as strong as life – it’s about time it reached you. – Brad Wheeler

Hugemanskost
All I have to say is that it is about time Rush were nominated. Best Canadian band ever, bar none. 1. Moving Pictures - Witch Hunt is my favorite song off of this hit-laden platter. 2. Signals - Subdivisions and Losing It are my 2 faves. 3. Hold Your Fire - Force Ten and Time Stand Still are great. 4. Hemispheres - Circumstances and The Trees, for me. 5. Permanent Waves - Spirit Of Radio was my first exposure to Rush as a 13 year old. I love Freewill and Different Strings, too. 6. Grace Under Pressure - Red Sector A and Distant Early Warning are awesome. 7. Power Windows - Mystic Rhythms and Big Money are sweet. As you can see, Rush were a big part of my growing up. Congratulations on being nominated for the RRHOF. Let's hope they get in! Thanks for all of the great music, boys. Edit: I love all Rush but the '80's stuff was especially meaningful to me.

Squirrels.Gone.Wild
It's about time! Check the thermostat in hell -- it appears to have dropped below 32 degrees: Long-snubbed Canadian progressive-rock trio Rush will at long last be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year, along with Randy Newman, Public Enemy, Donna Summer, Heart and Albert King. Rush’s absence from the Rock Hall year in and year out has spurred more complaints from fans than any other uninducted act, but Rush fans can now change their jeers to cheers. Rush and the other new inductees will be welcomed into the Rock Hall on April 18 in a ceremony that will take place for the first time in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre.
