All I have to say is that it is about time Rush were nominated. Best Canadian band ever, bar none.

1. Moving Pictures - Witch Hunt is my favorite song off of this hit-laden platter.

2. Signals - Subdivisions and Losing It are my 2 faves.

3. Hold Your Fire - Force Ten and Time Stand Still are great.

4. Hemispheres - Circumstances and The Trees, for me.

5. Permanent Waves - Spirit Of Radio was my first exposure to Rush as a 13 year old. I love Freewill and Different Strings, too.

6. Grace Under Pressure - Red Sector A and Distant Early Warning are awesome.

7. Power Windows - Mystic Rhythms and Big Money are sweet.

As you can see, Rush were a big part of my growing up. Congratulations on being nominated for the RRHOF. Let's hope they get in! Thanks for all of the great music, boys.

Edit: I love all Rush but the '80's stuff was especially meaningful to me.

Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

It's about time!

Check the thermostat in hell -- it appears to have dropped below 32 degrees: Long-snubbed Canadian progressive-rock trio Rush will at long last be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year, along with Randy Newman, Public Enemy, Donna Summer, Heart and Albert King.
Rush’s absence from the Rock Hall year in and year out has spurred more complaints from fans than any other uninducted act, but Rush fans can now change their jeers to cheers. Rush and the other new inductees will be welcomed into the Rock Hall on April 18 in a ceremony that will take place for the first time in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre.

Like 'em or not, they are worthy of the hall. Certainly as much as the massively overrated Grateful Dead.

Rush also deserves it's place in Canadian rock history. Still one of the biggest Canadian acts ever. So big that Americans think they're American.

Personally, i think The Band is better. And they knew when to quit.

I love The Band but I'd hardly say that they knew when to quit. Robbie Robertson dropped the hammer on them and even after, they kept trying without him.

Even after the real talent started dying (Manuel), they kept at it.

The Band were the best live band ever IMHO .. even after Robbie the Ego left, they were still damn good .. listen to the Jericho album to confirm ..

Geddy's voice is perfect for songs like 2112 and Working Man.

on the contrary, i'd say they're probably one of the most underrated 'classic rock' bands out there. 'deadheads' are annoying, sure, but that shouldn't reflect on the quality of the band.

dire wolf, box of rain, friend of the devil, dark star, touch of grey

great songs imo. then again, i'm just a sucker for that type of thing, so who knows

Well the ceremony has happened and they're officially in. They were inducted by Dave Grohl And Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters. There will be an HBO special on the ceremony next month, until then some fairly decent youtube clips will have to do.

Rush's acceptance speech.

Foo Fighters performing 2112. Rush joins in at the end.

Also, congrats to Seattle's Heart for their induction. The Wilson sisters were joined onstage by Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains), Mike McCready (Pearl Jam) and Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) for their performance of "Barracuda".

highly unusual to see Niel do the Rick Mercer interview. He is a very introverted guy, especially since his wife and daughter died. If you want to see a great bio on Rush right from the earliest beginigs. you must see....Rush,beyond the lighted stage. It is two hour biography and it answers alot of the questions about how they were marginalized from the mainstream music industry.

This is LONG...LONG overdue. However...taking a look at the list of some of the more glaring snubs...Chicago is not in the Hall...neither are the B-52's, The Cure, The Cars, Barry White, the Moody Blues, Jethro Tull, Hall and Oates, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Sonny and Cher, Joe Cocker, Cheap Trick, Deep Purple, KISS...I mean WTF...all these bands/artists are on the outside looking in while ABBA and RANDY ****ing NEWMAN are in? What a load of crap.

And I'm willing to wager whatever jackass is in here saying the Dead are overrated never saw them live. Just guessing.
