Chara, Seidenberg, Kaberle, Ference, Boychuk and McQuaid. Not exactly the most offensively gifted bunch. Too much money is already sunk into the blueline and back end of this team. The Canucks D is kind of like a bad reno job; keep dumping more and more money in hoping for improvement. Instead of dropping big jack on defencemen every year, do something different and spend it on some quality offence rather than re-treads, cast-offs and reclamation projects. The OP's proposal is a decent idea..but I would prefer to shoot for the stars and go for Kane and settle on Wheeler. Spare the Kane is untouchable nonsense, you still have to aim high first.
