Millions of pounds of unexploded bombs found along the US coastline

You, along with the title are incorrect.

Pounds are a unit of measurement for weight, not quantity in regards to how many bombs, with variable weights, there are. Nowhere in the article does it state that the researchers think there are millions of unexploded bombs around the country's coastlines. Rather, they speculate that there could be millions of pounds of unexploded explosives and other material.

"That part about the U-boat at the mouth of the Mississippi is pretty cool too. To think that the Germans were able to get that close. '

U-boats came very close to shore and more than once dropped spies on American soil. In fact it took awhile before people on the East Coast began to believe in the value of blackout curtains.Subs would sit off shore and wait for the freighters to block the lights from shore to help spot them and sink them.

Sub attacks also occurred up the Saint Lawrence seaway.

Read title. Read article. Not caring at all if title is slightly misleading. Millions of pounds of unexploded ordinance is, by all methods of measurement, still quite a lot.

What they should've done with it is perhaps systematically explode it all instead. Way cooler than just dumping it. But i guess Myth Busters has been around for only so long.
