Miss Korea Bob.Loblaw
Now there is another strike going on, with the residence and maintenance staff. One strike could be fault on either side, but when 2 unions are having job action on the same institution at the same time, the common denominator needs to be fixed
Markus Alexander Cody
Once the TSSU votes yes and sets up a picket line in front of the buses, the transit union will cooperate and a general strike will ensue. I'm saying this happens within one week from today.

Jägermeister
What a joke. I had one class today, the other was cancelled, and only half the students actually showed up. I've had profs and TA's e-mail saying not to go up at all, even if classes aren't officially cancelled. Why are we paying thousands of $ per year to go here again? ronthecivil
All my classes today, and because of the other strike, can't get mail from my parents I'd definitely consider transferring if it weren't for the other students that I've met here

Down by the River
TSSU voted today on whether or not the support the use of picketing. If the vote is in favour, TSSU will likely set up a picket line along with CUPE.
Down by the River
And for students who need their grades, you can have them released here: http://www.tssu.ca/2012/10/29/undergraduates-need-grades/
blitzkrieg66
Does anyone know who's decision it is to cancel the class? I have one sessional instructor who cancelled one of my classes tomorrow and I have another sessional instructor who says class is still going on as scheduled. Markus Alexander Cody
To clarify, if the picket lines are placed at the bus stop, there will be no service up and down the mountain (during the picket times). The drivers are NOT allowed to cross it.

Down by the River
UPDATE: TSSU Members Vote In Favour of Strike (NOT MY VOTE) Here is the e-mail I have received from Connor Moffat early this afternoon. Over 1000 members participated in our vote to escalate job action to picket lines and gave us a strong and resounding double-majority YES. As a result, TSSU has commenced picket line action. In conjunction with CUPE 3338, picket lines will be up at SFU's downtown campuses from 8:30am to 8:30pm on Saturday and Sunday. Any members available to picket should call our picket line at 604-808-5398 to arrange for a shift. Since this is now our picket line, duties performed at this picket line will count towards hours for strike pay, even if members are not missing instructional hours. As per the strike policy, members who cross this picket line to perform TSSU work duties will be subject to fines and forfeiture of wages. A full withdrawal of services by both CUPE 3338 and TSSU will occur at all of SFU's campuses on Wednesday November 7. Members need to continue to watch their emails for updates on the precise details of picket lines for next week. The dedication and solidarity of our members on CUPE's picket lines on Thursday and Friday has forced SFU to agree to mediation with us. Your Contract Committee is currently at the mediation with the employer only because of the dedication of the members who refused to cross CUPE's picket lines, resulting in the cancellation of hundreds of classes. We need our members to continue to put the pressure on SFU by being on the picket line so we can get to an agreement as expeditiously as possible. Sent on behalf of the Strike & Contract Committees. Sanford
My classes were also cancelled.... Tutorials are actually important for me since it helps me study for the midterms. Why exactly are we paying the $ for? I demand compensation.
Tortorella's Rant
You know what's a joke? Trying to get a diploma or degree in Networking while I am forced to take: a business class, two programming courses, a history course, 6 math courses, and another computer course. ALL of which have nothing to do with furthering my understanding of networking. I've spent more time on this crap than I have actually put towards learning what I actually want to. Granted, I did enjoy the server and history classes, but I would have preferred not to and just spent my time doing what I want. UFV needs to get their crap together. BCIT kids don't have to do any of this garbage; they're leaving us @ UFV in the dust. I'd already be eligible for my diploma if it wasn't for having to upgrade math.
