A caller named Donna mistakenly believes deer crossing signs are for deer and not drivers. Her laughable comments go viral.

Listeners of a North Dakota radio station got a good laugh when an incensed caller complained about the government putting up deer crossing signs in high-traffic areas.
But the caller, only identified as Donna, didn’t seem to understand that such signs aren’t for deer to be told where they can cross but rather for drivers to see it’s an area rampant with the woodland creatures.
“I’ve even seen [the signs] on the interstate,” Donna said on the Fargo-area radio station, Y94 Playhouse. “Why are we encouraging deer to cross at the interstate?”
But her questioning didn’t end there.
“It seems to me that it’s so irresponsible of us to allow these deer crossings to be in an area where these deer are so likely to be struck by oncoming traffic,” she said. “Wouldn’t you agree?”
The show’s hosts found it hard to interject seriously, realizing just how dimwitted Donna was acting.
“The government can direct the deer population anywhere they want to,” she added. “All they have to do is move that deer crossing sign.”
Audio of the woman’s deer-related diatribe was uploaded to YouTube on Oct. 8, and has been viewed more than 3.5 million times.
The caller even earned a nickname: Donna the Deer Lady.
In a follow-up call with Y94 uploaded to YouTube on Wednesday, Donna thanked the station's hosts for being understanding and said she felt “incredibly stupid” after realizing her mistake.
“I mean honestly, in my defense, I had no clue these signs were for us [humans],” she said. “I never really thought about it enough to realize I was kind of being ridiculous.”

I racked my brain and couldn't figure out how someone doesn't understand deer crossings.
At least she bucked up and admitted she made a mistake.

I heard this last week after working a late shift. CKNW played recordings from the day at night and this came on. I couldn't figure out if I was just that tired or if she was just that stupid.
You could hear the radio hosts trying very hard not to laugh at her after asking a few questions to try to coax her into her realizing her mistake. lol.

This makes me worried as to how Donna got her drivers license... Aren't knowing the signs of the road a standard thing you need to know to get ur driver's license?

Well she knew it was a deer crossing.. She just didn't realize that the signs were for people not the deer themselves

I know exactly how you feel. My wife teaches grade 6, and it is absolutely astonishing how dumb kids are these days. For example, she gave them an assignment (which they took home) on Bolivia, and the last question was to draw the flag of Bolivia with colour. Majority of her 23 students literally just drew a rectangle. The worst part, she gave them partial marks! Side note. If these are the students that will grow up to run the country, these are also the same students who will grow up to play in the NHL and think that $2.5 million a year is not enough to live on. I wish we would all just die out already.

You know, I've often wondered how they know exactly where to put those signs...

I always have this mental image of a deer or moose on the wrong side of one and some cop or conservation officer hassling it: "And just where do you think you're going? The deer crossing was a quater mile back!"
Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

I was living close to Seattle in my youth. My friends came down from Vancouver to visit me. We end up at a gas station to buy something and the lady behind the counter (twenty something) noticed my friend's accent and asked where we were from. Upon hearing, Canada. Her next question, OH!, Do you all live in igloos and stuff like that up there?? LOL, WTF? My friend played along and even described what his Igloo looks like.

I wasn't as surprised because I had been visiting and living there since elementary school but my friends talked about it for years.
