Markus Alexander Cody
Hey. I'm looking into getting new headphones which I will use on a day to day basis. No preference but I wouldn't mind overhead headphones. I've been looking around and I've seen mixed reviews about Dr. Dre Beats. Tried them on myself at various Apple Stores and for me, it's decent but I'm not thinking its worth my money. My question is, which one is? I listen to a lot of dance/electronic/house music and also recently released pop music. Just the casual listener. Also for the computer speakers, I was looking around and I do like this but just wondering which ones would be better at home. http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/insignia-insignia-2-1-powered-computer-speakers-ns-pcs41-black-ns-pcs41/10133608.aspx?path=cb4c4564260dc8a649f8d767901ec418en02 or http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/hercules-hercules-2-1-20-speaker-kit-gui-4781003-gui-4781003/10172448.aspx?path=cbca3271ac65b97b9b1db1b573ccc683en02
UMB
Beats have really good sound and they are extremely comfortable and they look nice but they really aren't worth $400 a pair
Markus Alexander Cody
I think so too. I do like them but I'm not going to spend $300+ for a pair of headphones. I'm sure I can find cheaper models from different companies which give me the same, if not, better.
UMB
My friend has these really nice pair of headphones. It looks extremely fancy, the thing connecting the buds that you put on your head (whatever you call it) is made of wood. The earbuds go over your ear and are very comfortable. The sound is clear and it is noise cancelling. The best part is that its only $50-100. I would get a pair but I don't listen to music too much on my iPod. Its always the radio. Markus Alexander Cody
Do you have like a pic or something or any other info where I might be able to get this? Also, has anyone tried those Urbanears headphones? look like this http://www.doobybrain.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/urbanears-purple.jpg
Lychees
Beats are so overpriced, their like the Macs of headphones. Sure you wanna be "hip and cool" go spend the money on something way overpriced. Honestly I've stuck with Logitech headphones and they're perfectly fine, current ones I have were only like $90, sound proofed, controls on the headset etc.
hudson bay rules
not the best but perhaps the best value of anything else out there. http://reviews.cnet.com/headphones/koss-portapro/4505-7877_7-32897197.html
Hugemanskost
Marshall Major FX are the headphones for me. I got a pair for X-mas last year. About $140. Just hammer Marshall headphones into Google and you will get reviews and the company website on the first page. I highly recommend them. The plug is a gold plated 1/8 inch but, they come with a 1/4 inch adapter.
ChenWei91
If you're going to get expensive headphones, get senheiser(?). Stay away from beats.

Mr. White
do NOT buy Beats. You can get headphones for $200 less that are more comfortable and have better sound quality
MadMonk
My vote goes to Audio Technica ATH-M50. I got a pair a couple of years ago, and from what I've read it is regarded as one of the best value for your money at $100-$200 price range. Got them at $~100 form the states a couple of years ago, and even at the current $150-$170 price point I will get them again. You may want to take a look around head-fi.org, particularly a review for portable headphones here. I also recommend going to a store that specialises in audio equipments, such as the headphone bar on Cambie and broadway, and try out a bunch of headphones. They generally carry higher quality headphones. Bring your own music with tracks you are very familiar with. p.s. Do stay away from Beats. I find that my M50 sounds just as good, if not better for 1/3-1/2 the price.
NightHawkSniper
http://www.zagg.com/.../smart-buds.php These headphones earbuds are pretty good, I've had my pair for 3 years and they are still working fine.
لني
Beats are garbage and for poseurs. Gots me a pair of Shures SE 535s and they are awesome. Triple drivers, foam inserts that block out the sounds and are super comfy, replaceable cord/wire and awesome sound.

Reviews: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13645_3-57337747-47/how-good-can-$21.59-headphones-be/ http://www.head-fi.org/t/569239/monoprice-hi-fi-dj-style-headphone-review Obviously not studio quality for under $25, but for the casual listener they are incredible. Stefan
Give me $50 and I'll tell you what would be better than beats, and you'd still save $200. Want headphones that are good at a realistic price? Don't buy beats. Want to spend double the worth of your product and have headphones a handful of people might think is cool? Get beats. coleman26
http://www.amazon.ca...50946941&sr=8-1 These are my babies. Sennheiser HD 558 Headphones. If you listen to a lot of hip-hop, or dubstep, or dance, I'd probably tell you to buy Beats, but if you just love music, these are your headphones. I waited it out on Amazon.ca until I got them down from 279.99 to 139.99. Right now they're on sale at 209.99, and if I knew what I knew now, I would not have hesitated to spend the full amount on them. They come with a 2 year warranty, they've got half inch thick velour earpads, they're comfortable to the point of not realizing they're there, the sound is richer and cleaner than anything I've ever listened to, and the positioning on the sound is phenomenal. I wouldn't say bad things about them with a gun to my head. I sleep with them on. Personal guarantee.
