hockeyville88
Szymon Szemberg @Sz1909_Szemberg NEWS: Gilbert Brulé as expected released from his contract with Zurich. The former 1st rounder had no goals since start of season. News1130 Sports @News1130Sports Gilbert Brule 1st over-all pick in WHL draft - 6th over-all in NHL draft and it could be all over at age 25. News1130 Sports @News1130Sports In 14 games with the ZSC Lions in the Swiss league, Brule had no goals and 6 assists before Marc Crawford cut him. Jeff Angus @anguscertified Such a shame Gilbert Brule was rushed to the NHL by Columbus. Same goes for Oscar Moller in LA. Two of my favorite WHL prospects. Wonder what is next for him. Such a promising young prospect.
n00bxQb
If he values his hockey career, he'll train harder than he's ever trained before.
laddy
Train his ass off, shift his attitude from being a goal scorer to more of a utility player, and he just might be a viable piece for any NHL team. He isn't a bad player, I just don't think he knows what his role is anymore..
Dion Phaneuf
He needs to bulk up, he can be a decent 4th liner making 600k a year.

Jai604
That's really too bad. I think he could re-tool his game and be a very effective bottom-six player.
WHL rocks
Maclean ruined his career in Columbus by rushing him. I heard MaC say once that Brule was his son's top choice for the draft. His son really wanted Mac to take Brule with the 6th overall. I think his son was around 10. Not sure but i remember something like 10 or 12. Langdon Algur
I recall Brule playing well for the Phoenix Coyotes during their extended playoff run last postseason. I think some general managers would still give him an opportunity to play in the NHL.

RonMexico
Junior hockey success does not result in NHL success.
The Wizard of AZ
He was pretty good on our bottom 6 in Phoenix. Great Dave Tippett sort of player. Kinda like a Taylor Pyatt v2.
Master Mind
I think he can still be a useful player for the right team. I think he'd fit in well on Nashville or on Phoenix again. There's still time for him to turn it around.
SkeeterHansen
He's a good player, and like many have said: If he trains like he's never trained before, and realizes he isn't a prominent goal scorer in the NHL, he'll be back in a utility role. He's got the skill, he just doesn't have an abundance of it.

WHL rocks
You're not insinuating that Doug MacLean made the wrong pick by listening to his teenaged son, are you? Or just as a FYI?
Ossi Vaananen
He couldn't cut it in the biggs, don't mean to pour salt on a wound but he's Daigle 2.0. I hope he rebounds from this somehow even if that means AHL contract and working his way up. It's all about confidence when you have a guy with this much talent. -DLC-
God, I remember watching him play as the rookie of the year on the Giants and thinking he had an incredible future in front of him. Was really pulling for him too...sad that he's lost a few steps along the way.
