[Confirmed] Gilbert Brule released from contract with Zurich

Recommended Posts

If he's willing to take a one year two-way deal to play on the Wolves it wouldn't be a terrible idea.

We lack some center depth there especially if Schroeder does get called up to fill in for Kes. (Yes, I am still talking as if there will be a season).

Best case scenario is he can regain his play and be a 3rd liner in the NHL.

Worst case scenario is he gets cut or retires if he can't keep up in the AHL.

Low risk, high reward.

Seems like a project for gillis to undertake. Don't you think?

FWIW - The ZSC Lion's webpage says mutual agreement/private reasons.

23.10.2012

Gilbert Brulé leaves the ZSC Lions immediately.

At the request of Gilbert Brulé the annual employment contract is terminated by mutual agreement with immediate effect. The grounds for termination of the contract are private and personal.

The Canadians went on to the 2012/13 season out of the Phoenix Coyotes to the ZSC Lions. He completed 14 games and scored 6 points.

The ZSC Lions wish Gilbert Brulé for the future but the best.

Hopefully he just go all hardcore-mode training during the off-season (or this lockout shortened season)... basically just train with Gary Roberts.

It's doubtful he will be a top-6 player in the NHL, but he can be a very good 3rd line centre in the league. When drafted, he was expected to be a Darcy Tucker style player. A guy who give 100% every night, plays physical for his size, and decent on both end of the ice. We all know he has the skills, so obviously it's just a mental/work ethics problem.

His greatest success in his hockey career has been in Vancouver, so maybe him playing in front of a more supportive crowd with family/friends might give him a boost.

To put things in perspective, when Burrows was the same age as Brule, he was still toiling in the AHL/ECHL.

While watching this guy develope with the Giants he showed so much promise and many including me expected the world. HA ! all we got was a bag of rocks ! IMHO Brule is worse than my Grandma on the ice and does not deserve to play in this or any league. Apart from his descent 65 game run in EDM in 09-10 He has shown NOTHING of what he displayed before the NHL. It is a shame really that such a great junior player just never seemed to find his hokey legs in the big show.
