Dale Weise has always been good.

He has a lot of skill for a 4th liner

The Netherlands are currently ranked 24th in the world for men's hockey, having recently passed Lithuania.

Tearing up a league will be great for his development.

Good for him.

I wouldn't call this "tearing it up", Kassian is tearing it up, Schultz and Kovy are tearing it up. 8 points in 2 games is waaaayy beyond that. Guys in beer league don't put up #'s like that. Seriously, did they not have any goalies and just play 6v6? hopefully it was just a ridiculous 2 games by him, cuz while its beneficial to be a go-to player, what good is it doing being a man in a boys league.

didn't AV give him a stint with the twins sometime last season or am I imagining crap?

You are not imagining crap, he took a few shifts with the Sedins, but Hansen worked much better as an alternative to Burrows on that line.

You have to consider the level of the competition here. The closest on the team is Josh Prudden who spent a little time in the AHL and there's a couple of guys that played in the BCHL. Most of the rest of the team are all guys that grew up in Tilburg (I've actually been there, but never knew they had a hockey team). He must feel like a superstar there!

There's some good pics on this guy's flickr page too - http://www.flickr.com/photos/9pm/

Love that they gave him a little Canadian flag on his dressing stall.

I love that the stall two to the left of his says "For Rent"

hes like tanner glass, hes going to get way better once we let him walk and become a solid 4th line contributing regular on another team

edit: if i was weise i would just stay there, smoking weed and doing whatever you want is pretty much legal and he's probably like mario lemieux in that league. hot euro chicks all over, livin like a boss.. hell, he could probly even rock number 99 if he wanted haha

Not surprised at all, people forget that even the NHL's biggest plugs are still superstars compared to everyone else. Not saying Weise is on of the NHL's biggest plugs, but he had to have had lots of skill to get to that point. Through junior and minor hockey, he's probably already used to being one of the best players on his team. I just hope that playing against such weak competition won't hurt him.

Haha he's probably already living like a boss in Vancouver, except with more money. Weed is pretty much legal here as well. Plus here he probably gets way more status and attention from chicks here considering this is Canada. In the Netherlands, even if he were Gretzky, chances are not as many people will know who he is.

Not to burst anyone's bubble but the Dutch/Belgium league allows a max. of 7 imports per team and most come from junior A/NCAA programs. One of my best buddies plays in it for something to do while he earns his Masters degree. He played Junior A and then went to play at RIT where Tanev played. He's a player/coach. Weise can play a role in the NHL, but don't get too excited. My buddy said he's acting like a donkey... playing in the wrong league and trying way too hard for what it is.

Would like to see Weise get more PK time. This'll put less strain on guys like Burrows.

Is he not eligible to play in the AHL?

Waivers.

The key difference is that Sopel can fill in for Seabrook and Campbell just fine. Bieksa, he is garbage so in that sense he is like the worst defenseman in the league.

When Cody (Hodgson) gets older, he might be better than Datsyuk.

Let's not push this guy (Kassian). He's still immature, and if he fails on the 2nd line it's because he isn't ready. Some guys really need years to develop, it's how well and how fast players adapt to the game. In my opinion, I'd rather have Horvat getting 2nd line minutes. He will start off on the 3rd line next season but I see him making the transition, being a great compliment to whoever plays his wings.

At this point, I don't see Kassian fitting in to any role other than a 3rd. If players like Kassian start getting 2nd line minutes then we just stay inconsistent as a team.
