RWMc1
Betteman planned for a lockout all along. The NHL is taking the fans for granted once again!!!! They've already counted the money fans will generate and are fighting over it!!!! Hit them in the pocketbook. If there is a lockout, fans should start a petition vowing to stop buying NHL merchandise once the lockout is over. Get enough people on board and maybe they will heed our desires on this issue. We want hockey, period!!! Money and revenue is what the NHL and players stand to lose if we unite and let them know how we feel. We should put this proposition to other fan bases. Ossi Vaananen
Bettman knows how to do one thing, and that's ruin the sport of hockey.
TowelPower12
revenues are up in spite of Bettman, not because of him. His 600 million dollar fail TV contract with ABC and ESPN led to the 2004-2005 lockout The only reason this current TV deal worked out is because Comcast acquired NBC Universal, they were showing hockey games on the goddamn Outdoor Life Network before that. Bill Sikes
Number 1, it takes two to cause a conflict and the NHLPA has proved absolutely inept at negotiating. And number 2, the negotiating skills are assessed on the basis of the results achieved; in the last negotiations the players said no cap, no way, never never. Who won that negotiation? Bettman is a master negotiator and that is in part because the lock out is a tool that he is not afraid of using
UMB
If there's another lockout Iwill cry We need to fire Bettman. We can't be having lockouts left and right everytime the CBA expires. Since Bettman's been hired there have been 2 lockouts and we are on the verge of a third

coastal1
Actually, it doesn't take 2 to cause a conflict. If one side does not negotiate in good faith, then the other side isn't causing conflict.
-Vintage Canuck-
Don Cherry thinks the NHL will be shut down for 2 months: “I’m afraid it looks like two months. Everybody’s talking that they’re going to be out two months,” Cherry said after the walk Friday evening. “It’s a lockout, it’s a shame. Everybody’s making money but everybody wants more money, and wouldn’t you? And that’s the way it works. It’s too bad. “It’s hard to believe we’re going to miss hockey for two months.” http://www.torontosun.com/2012/08/17/cherry-expects-two-month-nhl-lockout

diesel_3
In theory, a boycott would send a huge message and be pretty awesome if people actually did it. But like abused women to their overbearing, white trash husbands...they always come crawling back. It just makes me shake my head...I can't belive there is going to be ANOTHER lockout.
