I agree, D-Money.

These were awesome tweets:

I agree! Some of them made me actually lol. It's so nice to have a good reason to laugh in regard to all of this.

So if a deal is made, what are we left with for a schedule.

I am scared we will get something like a home and away with the pacific and central division.
Thats 20 games. Then 8 game series against the other northwest teams, thats 32 more.

No Boston, no Leafs, no Canadiens, no Sens, no Jets, no Flyers.

Hockey is the only sport, the rest are just games.

With 60 games you could do home and home with every other team in the league plus two extra rivalry games.

I wonder if realignment will be part of the agreement or if they will have to table that for next year?

They haven't done the 8 game divisional series for a couple of years now. It's been a 6 game series recently.

Likely each Canadian team do at least a home and home, but will be similar schedule like in 2004/05 which means lots of California, and inter divisional teams, but no eastern or Florida teams due to travel. Kinda hoping to see Boston this year in vancity :(

Yes thats true, but they will want to keep a balance schedule if it is 48, 52, 56, 60 games or whatever they decide on.
6 game series would be 24, plus 20 conference games. I dont see them playing any east/west games.
For a 60 game schedule, the easiest way would be 10 game series with division rivals.

longer it goes on, more likely the players actually heal instead of trying to come back early (cough... kesler)

but canucks need 20 games to find their form, and another 20 games to play better and make the playoffs.... so roughly anything less than 40 games would be a disaster.

or maybe they will be better rested and more recovered from injuries than teams with lots of players in europe?

min # of games they would play might even be 20 games? why not?

In a way I really wouldn't mind that. Less travel for our guys which means more energy, stamina come playoff time. And you never know, maybe we'll see boston in Van for the final again. I have an amazing feeling that if we have a shortenend season it could work in our favor, and we have one of the best chances to make the final once more.

I hope the new divisional realignments proposed earlier are part of the agreement. I mean, if you have to make up an entirely new schedule, why not?

There is zero chance of that happening.

I will say 4x your division, 2x your conference, 1x the other conference, plus 3 rivalry games for a total of 54 games. But that's just a blind guess.

These were awesome tweets:

McIndoe: “Wait, what do you mean ‘progress?’ This was supposed to be a PR stunt! A PR STUUUNNNT!!!!” – Gary Bettman, as he’s dragged away by goblins.

Goblins would never do such a thing to their own kind at the behest of humans.

Namely because the Western Confernce gets screwed under the current plan as there is less teams in the East according to the NHL proposal.

I don't see them playing 15-18 games against the East. In 94/95 the 48 games were all against the West.
Back then the West was 2 divisions of 6 teams. I think we played 4 against each team in the other division and 5 against our own.
With 1 team in our division only 4 times, or something like that......

I guess they could go for realignment right now. Then we can play a whole bunch against California
