So, what do we do with our line-up? Stick with what we have and give Shroeder a shot until Kes is back? Tanev in, Alberts in the pressbox?

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

training camp will be very interesting to see where players like kassian/schroeder/tanev/raymond slot in. and of course the media gongshow around roberto until if/when he is traded.

So Bettman had a news conference to say that everything's going well?

I wonder if he had planned to announce an agreement, but things haven't gone as fast as he predicted.

Raymond in the press box? :) Lapierre would probably slot into second line I would think.

I doubt he had that much planned, he probably just wanted to remind people who's in charge and why he's paid $8M.

I'll refrain from commenting on Raymond, but with our need for a 3rd line center I think Lapierre would fit better there and handle the tougher match ups along with Malhotra. That should hopefully free up Schroeder to play against lesser competition to shelter him (and Booth and Kassian) from playing too much defence.

We'll have to see what happens in a shorted camp though, Burrows could spread the help a bit and play on the 2nd line, and another winger (maybe Kassian) could move up in the short term if Kesler's still out.

I think he had a Doom and Gloom conference scheduled re the BOG meetings but the pace of yesterday took the wind out of his sails.

I think right now he's looking down the barrel of a gun, sonofagun.

Yea, this is why people get so angry during these lockouts.

Don't get too ahead of yourselves. There's no agreement yet. They've said that they were making progress before, and we all know how that turned out.

Sounds like pinko propaganda to me!

Honestly, I doubt Ovechkin is very in the know when it comes to negotiations. Why would the players who are working to get an agreement keep the players that bolted to Europe informed.

Sounds like someone who bolted to the otherside the world as soon as the lockout begun - and isn't getting all the information as soon as it happens.

Schneider admitted on NEWS 1130 today, that he can't keep up with the news when in Europe... so he goes by what his agent tells him.

yup, especially since the NHL according to bob mac, didnt even update the BOG on the current state of negotiations.

Bob McKenzie@TSNBobMcKenzie
Negotiations between NHL-NHLPA are at such sensitive stage NHL govs weren't even given specifics from yesterday's session at today's BofG.

highly doubt a player in russia has intimate knowledge of the discussions.

The news conference was already scheduled BEFORE all the negotiations happened. As a summary of the BOG meeting and/or to cancel more games.

But since there was such progress, and Daly (basically) spent the entire BOG updating everyone, there was no reason for the conference.

But to be fair to the media who came out for the meeting - he did his little 'I got nothin'.

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Booth - Schroeder - Kassian
Higgins - Lapierre - Hansen
Volpatti - Malhotra - Weise

Hamhuis - Bieksa
Edler - Garrison
Ballard - Tanev

Schneider
Luongo

I like it.

Daniel Sedin / Henrik Sedin / Alexandre Burrows
David Booth / Jordan Schroeder / Mason Raymond
Chris Higgins / Maxim Lapierre / Jannik Hansen
Dale Weise / Manny Malhotra / Zack Kassian
-I don't think Kassian will see immediate top six duties. Raymond deserves a shot at a top six spot again.

Dan Hamhuis / Kevin Bieksa
Keith Ballard / Chris Tanev
Kevin Connauton / Andrew Alberts

Luongo & Schneider

But if a Luongo trade were to happen immediately, the temporary holes left by Kesler, Edler and Garrison could be filled for the start of a season, if we do see one.

After the BOG meetings, NHLPA presented NHL with a proposal.

next few hours will be crucial, will NHL bend on its redic contract demands or will they give something up and finally negotiate?

Folks projecting line-ups, trades for Luongo, who'll fill in for Kesler, Edler and Garrison, please people, until the ink is dry, then you can start acting like CDC again.

Why is it always the NHLPA making proposals? It just seems like it's a way to take more and more from the players without offering anything.

Do we honestly believe that the owners are going to accept a players proposal after what happened with the previous ones?

I think that at this point we need to consider that the two sides may have come up with alternate solutions to their differences that have not been discussed publicly yet.

With the addition of the players and the different owners I expect there to have been a level of creativity that we haven't seen before.

Owners are back to talk to the players about their proposal. The reaction here could make or break the season. Here's hoping it's positive.

Alot of media types are saying this charade was set up right from the beginning. Think about it, no talks whatsoever, for almost a year before the previous CBA expired. Nothing throughout the summer months, even after some of these owners and GM's went ahead post July 1st and signed enormous contracts with players they in turn want to shaft by taking back whatever percentage it is they want. No deal to close the sale of the Glendale Coyotes, which in my opinion still won't happen new agreement or not.
By cutting close to a third of the season, they'e successfully reduced their hockey salaries, without playing a game. The NFL is nearing the end of their season, a few of those really successful southern hockey markets, (NOT) will be in play for hockey, and if you think they drew flies before, wait until the NHL starts up again. Was this the plan all along? Having talks throughout the fall, has seen all the anti-trust laws circumvented, but as a hockey fan for over 55 years, I smell a rat.

So rumor is that the NHL wants this CBA to be 10 years in length?

So no lockout for 10 years? It just wouldn't feel like the NHL without having a lockout every 7 years.

What? You mean that you don't like going through this that often? It, if IT happens better be at least that long.
