He will be taking control of San Jose temporarily to try and sign them some players. He has been a franchise player for a long time, with his 63 Selke awards, and his great leadership. However, our goal was to get younger, and better, at the same time. We felt that this move would be our last chance to move him while he still had value. Although this decision was tough, we knew it was the right choice to provide hockey fans here in Detroit, with a Stanley Cup winning team. Pavel will be missed... but will be forever a Red Wing. And would like to welcome Pavel Datsyuk and Timo Vallin. Although we didnt get that big D we need. We feel that our offence is more powerful then ever. We are pushing to win the Cup now.
