What the hell! The way we have playoffs set up is so bad. They're over before they even begin. You only have one shot to edit your lines and then cross your fingers and hope for the best. We have to do 1 week sims in the playoffs to make it more eventful. 3-4 games at a time kind of thing! And I never even got to watch a game ;(

I agree with your concept but it will be hard to get teams to be able to go online midday to edit lines when some teams can while others can't.

I dont want to slow the league down by 2 more days when more than half of the people are waiting for 4 days. We'll do a poll.

Everyone is in the same boat, everything is equal, no one deserves an advantage.

My opinion is maybe we should consider slowing down the finals. Everything else is equal for everyone.

The playoffs is what counts for points in the standings and yet it's the most anti-climactic event of the whole season. We're like 2 days ahead of schedule this season after having skipped the RFA signing period and the trade deadline, so why do we have to then further rush through the playoffs?

The way it's set up now, we may as well just sim through to the finals after the trade deadline. It just makes no sense at all. Why do playoffs count for points if we're not even going to be allowed to control our teams during them?

Why didn't anyone answer my question of when the sim was going to happen? It just got simmed with no notice whatsoever. A bunch of guys didn't even get a chance to do their line-ups because they weren't home from work yet.

Playoffs get 2 days. Resigning crappy entry level prospects that dont have real names get 4. :bored:
I can start bitching, cause this is the first year I have actually made the playoffs, but It was over faster than it begun.
I'm just being a sore loser.
All good, we need to discuss it forsure though.

Take Days away from the FA and add them to the playoffs. The offseason is too long anyways.

UFA days can be reduced by one day easily.

It might be good to do the playoffs one week sims to make adjustments because like you said they are the most important.

They are really anti climatic.

8pm and 3am sim times would make a lot of sense. So you guys want 4 day playoffs?

I'm down with that too. Could we eliminate the day off for trade deadline? so one day we go to the deadline and the next night we go passed it?

What does everyone vote on?

Playoffs 1 week per day? 1 week at 8pm then 1 week later in the night?

I only simmed it at 5:30PM because a bunch of you said you wanted it. Nobody got an advantage. I didn't even do my lines either, I just loaded it up, simmed and left to work.

It would be way easier for me to sim around 5PM and not 8PM. 8-9PM is my break between dayshift and nighshift in which I barely have time for anything. It's usually EASHL time with a work buddy.

I say we extend the playoffs to 4 days. One week sim at 5pm then the rest at night time.

This way teams can watch the meaningful games (5-7). To keep the season going I say we drop one UFA signing period. Our schedule will go from 17 to 18 days. We could squish the trade deadline down to save a day too

Washington will probably beat me.

My leading scorer, Drew Stafford is out for the whole round and so is Elias.

I think it would be better if you simmed later in the day, it would make it easier for people that have work or school in the a.m and dont get off till like 5 or 6

5 o'clock SIM is fine. I'm done and home from work at 4 and usually get on right away to edit everything. It's the night time ones that get me. Can't just start up my PS3 at 5am before work. I'd be late everyday. :P
Playoffs are the most important thing. I say trim a day off of resigning period. Or merge two days of draft and resign phase.

While ideally it would be nice to do later I think we need to respect Travs life, we don't want to inconvenience him as without him this league wouldn't exist. If he can only do it at 6 then we should accept the compromise. For playoff teams we could just wake up earlier and get it done before work

For the cup finals sim the whole thing at 5 or 6 or whatever the time is so we can start doing pre-draft trades and at 4am sim the draft. So you can complete the cup finals, pre-draft trades, and the draft all in one day.

Well that makes no sense. That is the most important series of them all....if anything that series should be the slowest.

The points between 1st and 2nd round is 1. The difference between winning and losing the cup is 9.

I think we should move one day off the re-sign period and UFA period over to the regular season/playoffs.

There's too much sitting around in the offseason, especially the re-signing period when you're not even allowed to trade. I'm pretty sure most teams re-sign their core players in the first sim anyway.

Last year I had to resign Stuart Vokoun and Thiornton all on the last day. I even offered Thornton more than asking price and he turned it down. Vokoun and Stuart accepted asking price no less.

What we could do is have trav do a sim at 6 pm on day 1 and then again at night. That way we still have 4 resigning phases but its over 3 days instead of 4

Ok well I don't know. Just trying to keep the 17 schedule thing. I mean I liked my idea of having a co-commissioner a while back. After trav sims at his usual 4am time, he passes the commissioner status to someone else who can then sim at 8pm. After the co-commish sims at 8pm, he gives the title back to trav for his usual time. This would actually be very good for the regular season as only 2 weeks would need to be simmed at a time since we're getting 2 sims a day. Who knows how badly the cpu screws up your team in 1 month worth of simulation. 2 week intervals at 8pm and 4am gives us more control over our team.

It is a good idea if it can work. It does seem like a lot of work. This is definitely worth considering if trav is up for it.

I think we can keep it 17 days if we do a double sim for resigning phase.

Well it would be less work for trav. He'd only have to do his usual 4am shift, and simply pass the commish status to someone else right after. As easy as a click of a button.
