I'll just pretend I never saw that Washington deal...

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

Honestly, all of the deals are either too good for us (especially FLA, CHI, and DET deals) or don't really help us (especially the PHX, and WSH deals)

Sorry. Any deal(s) involving Raymond and/or Ballard and I just gloss over it.
I love rock and roll, just put another dime in the juice box baby.

Honestly, all of the deals are either too good for us (especially FLA, CHI, and DET deals) or don't really help us (especially the PHX, and WSH deals)

I'd agree there's a bit of that going on but I was mostly astounded by why we'd do the secondary trades in each set of deals. Just with the first 3 alone we get a 1st rounder and then immediately trade it away rather than keep it in a deep and talented draft year. If the whole year is locked out, that gives us multiple chances at a higher pick in a draft lottery.

Deal #1
...
Then trade Raymond + 1st + 3rd to Detroit for Valtteri Filppula

That's way too much for a guy we don't really need. Losing a 1st in a good draft year isn't acceptable for that kind of return.

Deal #2
...
Then trade Gunnarsson, 1st + 3rd to Phonix for Raffi Torres & Zbynek Michalek

If we wanted Torres that bad we would have re-signed him. And why trade so much for Michalek just to put him on an $8.2M third paring with Ballard? Again with the 1st round pick.

Deal #3
...
Then trade Raymond, Rodin + 1st to Los Angeles for Matt Greene & Kyle Clifford

Again, moving so much (primarily that 1st) to get a 3rd pairing D-man and a 4th liner makes no sense.

Deal #4
...
Then trade a Rodin + 2nd + 3rd to Washington for Jeff Schultz & Matt Hendricks

Again with trading for a 3rd pairing D and a 4th liner forward. At least we didn't move a 1st round pick, but we lose two from the following rounds and let go of a young, offensively skilled prospect.

I don't see any reason to do any of those secondary trades from our end, never mind if the other teams would do so. Some of the main trades are more reasonable, but still a lot that one of the teams involved just wouldn't agree to.

If this team lets go of Sang he will burn this team next year.
