Next Gen Console News - XBOX 720, PS4

Most PS3 games I've seen aren't even in 1080P.

that's because the PS3 doesn't output in 1080P natively and most games have to be upscaled to 1080P. the few "true" 1080P games (few and far inbetween) have to go around all sorts of hoops in order to get enough out of the console to actually produce 1080P without chugging down, and most companies don't bother.

Although the Playstation 3 has Full HD 1080p output, most games available at this moment have resolutions up to 720p.

It should be noted that the PlayStation 3 will downgrade the display of any game that only supports 720p to 480p on an HDTV that displays only 480i, 480p and 1080i signals, instead of upscaling the display to 1080i.

it updates on the regular.

I removed the demos (and a screenshot), since they are not real games, and their non-demo counterparts were not 1080P (which was odd). I also found it odd that some sequels (like marvel: ultimate alliance 2) was not 1080P when the original was... weird.

ZombiU's first review was leaked.

http://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/13crx3/gamespots_zombiu_video_review_is_up_a_day_early/

4.5/10

Granted one review isn't too much to go on, 4.5 is a pretty terrible score.

Nintentdo just can't seem to get a handle on genuine AAA titles (besides their repetitive bread and butter series).

the guy's only real complaint is it's not "resident evil" enough, except for the multiplayer...

too realistic, not "actiony" enough... if anything it's making me more excited to play it.

also:

"in Britian, Official Nintendo Magazine actually gave Zombi U a 92% review score in their most recent issue (surpassing both NSMBU AND Nintendoland) Take that as you will, but a larger consensus is definitely needed"

IM eagerly awaiting the new console generation... mostly for two reasons...

1) my last (current) generation games get so cheap... the library of games swells enough to cram the entertainment center!

2) I have a set budget for gaming (albeit a rather high budget), so i can spend less on old stuff while saving for the new stuff

and this passes the time for all the bugs to be ironed out.

I have always bought my systems at least a year after their release. Not only are they cheaper on that second Christmas,

they tend to be a bit more sturdy and have a larger library of available titles... Whats not to love!?

frack the eighth generation :picard:

If all that is true, I'm not freaking buying a console...

My exact thoughts and I have been a big console guy my whole life. I don't really want to pay out the ass for a top of the line PC so I can spend more time/money on games. Its not looking very good on the gaming front for me right now.

I built my "gaming" computer at NCIX a year ago for about $650 and it runs every game on high with no stuttering so I'm not sure what you guys mean by needing to spend 1k. That being said I will probably have to upgrade the video card in a year or two, but still...

Its because people don't know how to spend their money efficiently.

That guy bought his computer a year ago and already is thinking about upgrades he should make. That means his computer is not going to be worth $650 any more it will be worth an ever increasing amount of money. While I am shying away from consoles as well and considering going the PC route, it is more expensive. A console that costs less then $500 for 8 or 9 years or a computer that costs more then $500 and you need to keep adding hardware to keep it playing the games you want. Just saying it is not as clear cut as come PC gamers would like everyone to believe, there are reasons people buy consoles.
