What's your favorite aspect of the job?

This is a very good question.

My goal in life is to get into law enforcement. I have this job until I get into good enough shape to apply to the Edmonton Police. Working in a hotel gives me great communication and problem solving skills, and I get to deal with different kinds of people everyday, especially from a security aspect.
Not to mention going up stairs all day helps me get in shape.

Do you offer a continental breakfast, and if so is it more than just a muffin :(

We have an amazing restaurant in our hotel. We cook breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with a brunch every sunday. With breakfast you can order off the menu, but we have a huge breakfast buffet that includes an omelet station, cold and hot cereals, fruits and other breakfast foods. (and muffins too!)

Our kitchen staff also cater to the Government House, which is a building that people from government or famous people go to to eat. For example, when the Queen or Prime Minister came to Edmonton, it was our kitchen staff that fed them. They get the same food that we serve out of the restaurant and banquet halls in our hotel!

Edmonton is not the right city for some people, not going to lie. It's not pretty, and there is not much to do once summer is over. It's a blue collar place for sure.

I ordered porn to somebody else's room once lol

edit: this one

At least it got an 8.7 on IMDB!

We do have adult films on the in room movie listings, but once we get out new rooms, we are doing away with in room movies, and hopefully having Shaw HD in the rooms with like 100 Channels (no adult channels)

That's good. It'll prevent people like godzilla deuce from charging porn to other rooms. Speaking of which, how would you handle a scenario like that? Would you believe the person?

And are prank calls common from room to room?

Last Christmas I had to assist two EPS Constables arrest three individuals from a Christmas party.

We also boot out people who are loud, drunk and partying on a semi-regular basis.

Last case I had was a 'sweet 16' party that started at 2 pm. Everything was fine until they turned on the music, and they snuck in a bunch of alcohol. When I knocked on the door to tell them to be quiet, I saw all the underage drinking and kicked all of them out of the hotel. The girl who was having the party had some explaining to do to her parents... who were not there but paid for the room.

To order movies in our hotel, you have to call down to front desk. We have to activate the movies, so people cant charge movies to other rooms and stuff. And if a mistake does happen, we usually refund them, it's not worth arguing over something so small.

And as for prank calls, they do happen, but it's actually pretty rare that people complain, since it's usually friends calling friends.

Nope, I've never experienced or heard about things like this happening.

Although, we have this real sleezy 24/7 pizza place that puts flyers under our doors all the time, we have a strict no soliciting or hand bills policy. whenever they put flyers under our doors, we call and order lots of food to a made up room. If they keep putting flyers under out doors, we keep doing it until they get the message and stop. It works pretty well.

The bed in your house or your makeshift one in your office?

I've clearly always been so curious about the way hotels work

According to the show Weeds, women tend to leave their sex toys behind all the time in the rooms. Does that apply in real life?

Not that common, we get maybe two or three calls a week regarding those. I'm guessing it's because we have very powerful flush toilets.

When it does happen though, most of the time the guest asks for a plunger and they fix it themselves. But when maintenance or myself has to fix it, I usually just walk in, give the guest a nod, unclog it, and walk out. No words would be exchanged, but I usually get good tips for fixing a clog.

If it's just a walk in guest, they usually are not that angry since they didn't call in advance. If we are full if they try to check in, we help them find a vacant hotel and hold a room for them.

When we get the real angry people is when we become overbooked. Usually what happens is the hotel is full, and a guest that is suppose to check out, calls down before check out time and tells us they are going to stay an extra night. We have to 'walk' the guest that hasn't arrived yet to another hotel, since there is no room for them at out hotel. We pay for however long they have to stay at another hotel, and when they can stay at ours for the rest of their stay, their meals are free. So usually once we tell them that they don't get too angry.

But we do get lots of yellers because of that, but they just wind up making themselves look like a fool in front of a lot of people.
