Mitt Romney's Campaign Cancels Staffers Credit Cards In The Middle Of The Night

Helaine Olen

http://www.forbes.co...e-of-the-night/

The next time you have the misfortune of hearing a Wall Street titan or other one-percenter whine about how their trickle-down contributions are not appreciated by the masses remember this tidbit, courtesy of Garrett Haake at NBC:

From the moment Mitt Romney stepped off stage Tuesday night, having just delivered a brief concession speech he wrote only that evening, the massive infrastructure surrounding his campaign quickly began to disassemble itself.

Aides taking cabs home late that night got rude awakenings when they found the credit cards linked to the campaign no longer worked.

No doubt a whole host of Boston taxi drivers found themselves stiffed when it came to tips early Wednesday morning. That’s what happens when the money trickles up, not down and it’s why healthy economies don’t depend on the trickle down whims of overlords. The minute Richie Rich decides he doesn’t need all that stuff staff … well, that’s that.

In case you are wondering, this did not have to happen. The Mitt Romney for President entity does not end with Romeny’s Tuesday night loss. There are papers to be filed with various federal commissions and bills to be paid ….'

But clearly not the taxi bills belonging to some of those most loyal to Romney. Maybe that’s what you get for taking a job with a multi-millionaire who boasts about the fact that he sneaks popcorn into movie theatres in wife’s handbag, so he doesn’t have to pay inflated concession prices for a snack.

Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

Well at least its his own money or money provided by sponsors.

Contrast with his decision with the BC government paying $7 million for ICBC severance.

That is the difference between the left and right. Money wasted by big government comes out of every taxpayers pocket. There is no accountability by when it comes to money. Businesses on the other hand have a bottom line. If they can't make a profit they go bankrupt. The government just prints more money.

That is the difference between Mitt and Barack. One is a real genuine and sincere guy and the other is a lying piece of trash. Am so happy Obama became the president, otherwise It would've been a real embarrassment for the Americans if the other guy was elected. Mitt Romney would've been worse than J.W. Bush.

Some of you are simply jumping to this because it's Romney. Let's leave it at this: if I got fired, I'm not expecting my boss to pay my transit ride back home, nor is there an onus for my former boss to do so.

you don't think his entourage got their taxis paid for to the venue that night?

Wonder if their hotel was covered.or he stuck them with that bill as well.

Is there any possibility that there was an automatic cut off date set on the cards? If Romney had won the election, he could have extended the coverage if he wanted to?

Idk, just a thought.

Perhaps you'd like ICBC to keep the 250 managers and cost $29 million more per year? We're talking nickels and dimes compared to private industry. Look up Royal Bank of Scotland or Credit Suisse.

In 2008 when the meltdown hit from Wikipedia:

During the sub-prime mortgage crisis starting in 2008, Credit Suisse only wrote down $902 million in subprime holdings and approximately the same amount for leveraged loans. That same year it initiated plans to hire an additional 1,000 "relationship managers" for its asset management services to wealthy individuals, at a time where most investment banking units were making cuts.

At least ICBC is making cuts, do you hear BC Ferries cutting management?

I think continuing to spend money on the campaign after the campaign is over would be abuse. I think what happened is they found people spending it up so they had to cut them off .

I dont think people need 'notice' to stop using campaign credit cards after the election is over. Its just common sense.

Bain Capital .. once you are no longer any use to me I will cut you adrift faster than I can strap a kennel to a car roof .. loyalty is NOT an option in Mitt's world .. now Mitt and Ann get to look in the mirror every day and see their own failure ..

Do you have a source for that claim?

Typical Romney supporter who doesn't think twice shooting his mouth off and doesn't care about anything but his own misguided sense of what is fair and reasonable.

The real world begs to differ. You get led into the boardroom, someone behind you has your personal belongings in their hand and passes it to you, and on the table is your severance package. From there, you are escorted out the building.

The second you get fired/laid off, that's it. The company that you worked for has no obligation to help you any more. What...are they supposed to let you live off their dime for two more weeks?

How exactly is that "fair and reasonable" - to let someone who isn't on their contract keep using up company dollars?

Yet none of this stuff happened. As the article reads, "those most loyal" to Mitt Romney were blindsided by this. One would think that cab fare would be a start at least, for a "severance package".

Have you ever been laid off? Two weeks is exactly what you are supposed to get in most cases.

As for the other option: If they were fired, I certainly hope you don't think that this will make me think Mitt Romney is less of a self-entitled scumbag.

Besides, when you fire someone, you look them in the eye and say "you're fired".(If Mitt has trouble with this, he can call his buddy, The Donald for help) You don't quietly revoke all priveleges and change the locks. That's the coward's way out.
